In the beginning of Jehoiakim son of Josiah the word this came from the Lord

Thus said the Lord: Stand in the court of the house of the Lord, and you shall speak to all the Judeans and to all who come to worship in the house of the Lord all the words that I commanded you to speak to them; do not take away a word.

Perhaps they will hear, and each will turn from his evil way, and I will cease from the evils which I am planning to do to them because of their evil practices.

And you shall say thus: The Lord said, If you do not listen to me, to walk in my statutes which I gave before your face,

to listen to the words of my servants the prophets whom I send to you early and I sent, and you did not listen to me

And I will make this house like Shiloh, and I will give the city for a curse to all the nations of all the earth.

And the priests and the false prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord

And it came to pass, when Jeremiah had finished speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, that the priests and the false prophets and all the people seized him, saying, You shall surely die by death.

because you prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying, As Shilom this house shall be, and this city shall be desolated from inhabitants; and all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the Lord

And the leaders of Judah heard this word, and they went up from the house of the king to the house of the Lord, and they sat in the entrance hall of the gate of the Lord, the new one.

And the priests and the false prophets said to the rulers and to all the people, A sentence of death for this man, because he prophesied against this city, as you have heard in your ears.

And Jeremiah said to the rulers and to all the people, saying, The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all these words which you heard.

And now make your ways and your deeds better, and listen to the voice of the Lord, and the Lord will cease from the evils which he spoke against you

And behold, I am in your hands; do for me as is advantageous and as is better for you.

But know for certain that if you put me to death, you are bringing innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and upon those who dwell in it, because in truth the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.

And the rulers and all the people said to the priests and to the false prophets, There is no sentence of death for this man, because he spoke to us in the name of the Lord our God.

And men of the elders of the land arose and said to all the assembly of the people

Micah the Morathite was in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and he said to all the people of Judah: Thus says the Lord: Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall be for an untrodden place, and the mountain of the house shall be for a grove of a forest.

Did Hezekiah and all Judah not indeed kill him, because they feared the Lord and because they entreated the face of the Lord, and the Lord ceased from the evils which he spoke against them? And we have done great evils against our souls.

And there was a man prophesying in the name of the Lord, Urias son of Samaiou, from Kiriathiarim, and he prophesied concerning this land according to all the words of Jeremias.

And King Jehoiakim heard, and all the rulers, all his words, and they were seeking to kill him. And Uriah heard and entered into Egypt.

And the king sent men into Egypt

And they brought him out from there and brought him to the king, and he struck him with a sword and threw him into the tomb of the sons of his people

But the hand of Ahikam son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so as not to give him into the hands of the people, to not put him to death
