And these are the words of the book that Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the elders of the captivity and to the priests and to the false prophets, a letter to Babylon to the captivity and to all the people
And seek for the peace of the land into which I have deported you there, and pray for them to the Lord, because in its peace there will be peace for you.
For thus said the Lord: Do not let the false prophets among you persuade you, and do not let your diviners persuade you, and do not listen to your dreams that you dream.
For thus said the Lord: When seventy years are about to be fulfilled for Babylon, I will visit you and I will establish my words upon you, to turn your people back to this place.
Thus said the Lord concerning Achiab and concerning Sedekias: Behold, I am giving them into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he shall strike them before your eyes.
and they shall take from them a curse in all the exile of Judah in Babylon, saying, May the Lord do to you as he did to Zedekiah and as to Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire
because of which they committed lawlessness in Israel and were committing adultery with the wives of their fellow citizens and were uttering a word in my name which I did not command them, and I am witness, says the Lord
The Lord has given you as priest in place of Jehoiada the priest, to be overseer in the house of the Lord over every man prophesying and over every man who is mad, and you shall put him into the stocks and into the collar.
Send to the exile, saying, Thus said the Lord concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: because Shemaiah prophesied to you, and I did not send him, and he made you trust in injustices.
Therefore thus said the Lord: Behold, I am visiting upon Shemaiah and upon his family, and there shall not be a man of them in your midst to see the good things that I will do for you; they shall not see.
