οὐκ ἤκουσεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ παῖδες αὐτοῦ καὶ ὁ λαὸς τῆς γῆς τοὺς λόγους κυρίου οὓς ἐλάλησεν ἐν χειρὶ Ιερεμιου
And he did not listen, and his servants, and the people of the land, to the words of the Lord which he spoke by the hand of Jeremiah.
ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Σεδεκιας τὸν Ιωαχαλ υἱὸν Σελεμιου καὶ τὸν Σοφονιαν υἱὸν Μαασαιου τὸν ἱερέα πρὸς Ιερεμιαν λέγων πρόσευξαι δὴ περὶ ἡμῶν πρὸς κύριον
And King Zedekiah sent Jozhal son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest to Jeremiah, saying, Pray now on our behalf to the Lord.
And Jeremiah came and passed through the midst of the city, and they did not give him into the house of the prison.
δύναμις Φαραω ἐξῆλθεν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἤκουσαν οἱ Χαλδαῖοι τὴν ἀκοὴν αὐτῶν καὶ ἀνέβησαν ἀπὸ Ιερουσαλημ
And the power of Pharaoh came out from Egypt, and the Chaldeans heard the report of them, and they went up from Jerusalem.
And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying
εἶπεν κύριος οὕτως ἐρεῖς πρὸς βασιλέα Ιουδα τὸν ἀποστείλαντα πρὸς σὲ τοῦ ἐκζητῆσαί με ἰδοὺ δύναμις Φαραω ἡ ἐξελθοῦσα ὑμῖν εἰς βοήθειαν ἀποστρέψουσιν εἰς γῆν Αἰγύπτου
Thus says the Lord: Thus you shall say to the king of Judah, who sent to you to inquire of me: Behold, the force of Pharaoh that has gone out to help you shall return to the land of Egypt.
ἀναστρέψουσιν αὐτοὶ οἱ Χαλδαῖοι καὶ πολεμήσουσιν ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν ταύτην καὶ συλλήμψονται αὐτὴν καὶ καύσουσιν αὐτὴν ἐν πυρί
and the Chaldeans themselves will turn back and will fight against this city and will seize it and will burn it with fire
οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος μὴ ὑπολάβητε ταῖς ψυχαῖς ὑμῶν λέγοντες ἀποτρέχοντες ἀπελεύσονται ἀφ᾿ ἡμῶν οἱ Χαλδαῖοι ὅτι οὐ μὴ ἀπέλθωσιν
For thus said the Lord: Do not suppose in your souls, saying, By fleeing the Chaldeans will depart from us, for they shall surely not depart.
ἐὰν πατάξητε πᾶσαν δύναμιν τῶν Χαλδαίων τοὺς πολεμοῦντας ὑμᾶς καὶ καταλειφθῶσίν τινες ἐκκεκεντημένοι ἕκαστος ἐν τῷ τόπῳ αὐτοῦ οὗτοι ἀναστήσονται καὶ καύσουσιν τὴν πόλιν ταύτην ἐν πυρί
And even if you strike all the power of the Chaldeans who are fighting against you, and some pierced ones are left, each in his place, these will rise up and burn this city in fire.
And it happened, when the force of the Chaldeans went up from Jerusalem because of the force of Pharaoh,
Jeremiah went out from Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin to buy from there, in the midst of the people.
ἐγένετο αὐτὸς ἐν πύλῃ Βενιαμιν καὶ ἐκεῖ ἄνθρωπος παρ᾿ ᾧ κατέλυεν Σαρουιας υἱὸς Σελεμιου υἱοῦ Ανανιου καὶ συνέλαβεν τὸν Ιερεμιαν λέγων πρὸς τοὺς Χαλδαίους σὺ φεύγεις
And it came to pass, as he was in the gate of Benjamin, and there was a man with whom Seraiah son of Selemiah son of Ananias lodged, and he seized Jeremiah, saying to the Chaldeans, You are fleeing.
εἶπεν ψεῦδος οὐκ εἰς τοὺς Χαλδαίους ἐγὼ φεύγω καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσεν αὐτοῦ καὶ συνέλαβεν Σαρουιας τὸν Ιερεμιαν καὶ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτὸν πρὸς τοὺς ἄρχοντας
and he said, falsehood, I am not fleeing to the Chaldeans; and he did not listen to him, and Sarouias seized Jeremiah and brought him in to the rulers
ἐπικράνθησαν οἱ ἄρχοντες ἐπὶ Ιερεμιαν καὶ ἐπάταξαν αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπέστειλαν αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν Ιωναθαν τοῦ γραμματέως ὅτι ταύτην ἐποίησαν εἰς οἰκίαν φυλακῆς
And the rulers were enraged against Jeremiah, and they struck him and sent him to the house of Jonathan the scribe, because they had made this into a house of confinement.
And Jeremiah came into the house of the pit and into the chereth, and he sat there for many days.
ἀπέστειλεν Σεδεκιας καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτόν καὶ ἠρώτα αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλεὺς κρυφαίως εἰπεῖν εἰ ἔστιν λόγος παρὰ κυρίου καὶ εἶπεν ἔστιν εἰς χεῖρας βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος παραδοθήσῃ
And Zedekiah sent and called him, and the king asked him secretly to say whether there is a word from the Lord, and he said, There is: into the hands of the king of Babylon you shall be given over.
εἶπεν Ιερεμιας τῷ βασιλεῖ τί ἠδίκησά σε καὶ τοὺς παῖδάς σου καὶ τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον ὅτι σὺ δίδως με εἰς οἰκίαν φυλακῆς
And Jeremiah said to the king, What injustice have I done to you and to your servants and to this people, that you are giving me into a house of confinement?
ποῦ εἰσιν οἱ προφῆται ὑμῶν οἱ προφητεύσαντες ὑμῖν λέγοντες ὅτι οὐ μὴ ἔλθῃ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ταύτην
And where are your prophets, the ones who prophesied to you, saying that the king of Babylon would surely not come upon this land?
νῦν κύριε βασιλεῦ πεσέτω τὸ ἔλεός μου κατὰ πρόσωπόν σου καὶ τί ἀποστρέφεις με εἰς οἰκίαν Ιωναθαν τοῦ γραμματέως καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνω ἐκεῖ
And now, lord king, let my favor fall before you, and why are you turning me back to the house of Jonathan the scribe, and I shall surely not die there?
συνέταξεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ἐνεβάλοσαν αὐτὸν εἰς οἰκίαν τῆς φυλακῆς καὶ ἐδίδοσαν αὐτῷ ἄρτον ἕνα τῆς ἡμέρας ἔξωθεν οὗ πέσσουσιν ἕως ἐξέλιπον οἱ ἄρτοι ἐκ τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἐκάθισεν Ιερεμιας ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ τῆς φυλακῆς
And the king gave orders, and they cast him into the house of confinement, and they gave him one loaf of bread a day from outside where they bake, until the loaves from the city were used up; and Jeremiah sat in the court of the confinement.
