σεαυτῷ χαρτίον βιβλίου καὶ γράψον ἐπ᾿ αὐτοῦ πάντας τοὺς λόγους οὓς ἐχρημάτισα πρὸς σὲ ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐπὶ Ιουδαν καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἀφ᾿ ἧς ἡμέρας λαλήσαντός μου πρός σε ἀφ᾿ ἡμερῶν Ιωσια βασιλέως Ιουδα καὶ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης
Take for yourself a scroll of a book, and write on it all the words that I have spoken to you concerning Jerusalem and concerning Judah and concerning all the nations, from the day that I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah king of Judah, and until this day.
ἀκούσεται ὁ οἶκος Ιουδα πάντα τὰ κακά ἃ ἐγὼ λογίζομαι ποιῆσαι αὐτοῖς ἵνα ἀποστρέψωσιν ἀπὸ ὁδοῦ αὐτῶν τῆς πονηρᾶς καὶ ἵλεως ἔσομαι ταῖς ἀδικίαις αὐτῶν καὶ ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις αὐτῶν
Perhaps the house of Judah will hear all the evils that I am devising to do to them, so that they may turn back from their evil way, and I will be gracious to their injustices and to their sins.
ἐκάλεσεν Ιερεμιας τὸν Βαρουχ υἱὸν Νηριου καὶ ἔγραψεν ἀπὸ στόματος Ιερεμιου πάντας τοὺς λόγους κυρίου οὓς ἐχρημάτισεν πρὸς αὐτόν εἰς χαρτίον βιβλίου
And Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and he wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the Lord which he had given him as an oracle, upon a scroll of a book
And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I shall guard myself; I shall by no means be able to enter into the house of the Lord.
ἀναγνώσῃ ἐν τῷ χαρτίῳ τούτῳ εἰς τὰ ὦτα τοῦ λαοῦ ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ νηστείας καὶ ἐν ὠσὶ παντὸς Ιουδα τῶν ἐρχομένων ἐκ πόλεως αὐτῶν ἀναγνώσῃ αὐτοῖς
and you shall read in this scroll in the ears of the people in the house of the Lord on a fast day, and in the ears of all Judah who are coming from their cities you shall read to them
πεσεῖται ἔλεος αὐτῶν κατὰ πρόσωπον κυρίου καὶ ἀποστρέψουσιν ἐκ τῆς ὁδοῦ αὐτῶν τῆς πονηρᾶς ὅτι μέγας ὁ θυμὸς καὶ ἡ ὀργὴ κυρίου ἣν ἐλάλησεν ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον
perhaps their supplication will fall before the face of the Lord, and they will turn back from their evil way, because great is the wrath and the anger of the Lord which he spoke against this people
ἐποίησεν Βαρουχ κατὰ πάντα ἃ ἐνετείλατο αὐτῷ Ιερεμιας τοῦ ἀναγνῶναι ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ λόγους κυρίου ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου
And Baruch did according to all that Jeremiah commanded him, to read in the book the words of the Lord in the house of the Lord.
ἐγενήθη ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ ὀγδόῳ βασιλεῖ Ιωακιμ τῷ μηνὶ τῷ ἐνάτῳ ἐξεκκλησίασαν νηστείαν κατὰ πρόσωπον κυρίου πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ οἶκος Ιουδα
And it came to pass in the eighth year of King Jehoiakim, in the ninth month, they proclaimed a fast before the Lord, all the people in Jerusalem and the house of Judah.
ἀνεγίνωσκε Βαρουχ ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ τοὺς λόγους Ιερεμιου ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου ἐν οἴκῳ Γαμαριου υἱοῦ Σαφαν τοῦ γραμματέως ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ τῇ ἐπάνω ἐν προθύροις πύλης τοῦ οἴκου κυρίου τῆς καινῆς ἐν ὠσὶ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ
And Baruch was reading in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the Lord, in the house of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, in the entrance of the gate of the house of the Lord, the new, in the ears of all the people.
And Micaiah son of Gemariah son of Shaphan heard all the words of the Lord from the book.
κατέβη εἰς οἶκον τοῦ βασιλέως εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ γραμματέως καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐκεῖ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες ἐκάθηντο Ελισαμα ὁ γραμματεὺς καὶ Δαλαιας υἱὸς Σελεμιου καὶ Ελναθαν υἱὸς Ακχοβωρ καὶ Γαμαριας υἱὸς Σαφαν καὶ Σεδεκιας υἱὸς Ανανιου καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες
And he went down to the house of the king, into the house of the scribe, and behold, there all the princes were sitting: Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah son of Shelemiah, and Elnathan son of Achbor, and Gemariah son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
ἀνήγγειλεν αὐτοῖς Μιχαιας πάντας τοὺς λόγους οὓς ἤκουσεν ἀναγινώσκοντος τοῦ Βαρουχ εἰς τὰ ὦτα τοῦ λαοῦ
And Michaias reported to them all the words that he heard Baruch reading in the ears of the people.
ἀπέστειλαν πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες πρὸς Βαρουχ υἱὸν Νηριου τὸν Ιουδιν υἱὸν Ναθανιου υἱοῦ Σελεμιου υἱοῦ Χουσι λέγοντες τὸ χαρτίον ἐν ᾧ σὺ ἀναγινώσκεις ἐν αὐτῷ ἐν ὠσὶ τοῦ λαοῦ λαβὲ αὐτὸ εἰς τὴν χεῖρά σου καὶ ἧκε καὶ ἔλαβεν Βαρουχ τὸ χαρτίον καὶ κατέβη πρὸς αὐτούς
And all the rulers sent to Baruch son of Neriah, the Judean, son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, saying, The scroll in which you read in it in the ears of the people, take it into your hand and come. And Baruch took the scroll and went down to them.
And they said to him again, Read aloud in our ears; and Baruch read aloud.
ἐγενήθη ὡς ἤκουσαν πάντας τοὺς λόγους συνεβουλεύσαντο ἕκαστος πρὸς τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπαν ἀναγγέλλοντες ἀναγγείλωμεν τῷ βασιλεῖ ἅπαντας τοὺς λόγους τούτους
And it came to pass, when they heard all the words, they took counsel each with his neighbor, and said, announcing, Let us surely report all these words to the king.
And they asked Baruch, saying, From where did you write all these words?
εἶπεν Βαρουχ ἀπὸ στόματος αὐτοῦ ἀνήγγειλέν μοι Ιερεμιας πάντας τοὺς λόγους τούτους καὶ ἔγραφον ἐν βιβλίῳ
And Baruch said, From his mouth Jeremiah announced to me all these words, and I was writing in a book.
And they said to Baruch, Go, hide yourselves, you and Jeremiah; let no man know where you are.
εἰσῆλθον πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα εἰς τὴν αὐλήν καὶ τὸ χαρτίον ἔδωκαν φυλάσσειν ἐν οἴκῳ Ελισαμα καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν τῷ βασιλεῖ πάντας τοὺς λόγους
And they went in to the king into the court, and they gave the scroll to be kept in the house of Elishama, and they reported all the words to the king.
ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸν Ιουδιν λαβεῖν τὸ χαρτίον καὶ ἔλαβεν αὐτὸ ἐξ οἴκου Ελισαμα καὶ ἀνέγνω Ιουδιν εἰς τὰ ὦτα τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ εἰς τὰ ὦτα πάντων τῶν ἀρχόντων τῶν ἑστηκότων περὶ τὸν βασιλέα
And the king sent Judiin to take the scroll, and he took it from the house of Elisama, and Judiin read it in the ears of the king and in the ears of all the officials standing around the king.
And the king was sitting in the winter house, and a firepot before him.
ἐγενήθη ἀναγινώσκοντος Ιουδιν τρεῖς σελίδας καὶ τέσσαρας ἀπέτεμνεν αὐτὰς τῷ ξυρῷ τοῦ γραμματέως καὶ ἔρριπτεν εἰς τὸ πῦρ τὸ ἐπὶ τῆς ἐσχάρας ἕως ἐξέλιπεν πᾶς ὁ χάρτης εἰς τὸ πῦρ τὸ ἐπὶ τῆς ἐσχάρας
And it happened, as Judin was reading three columns and four, he was cutting them off with the scribe’s knife and throwing them into the fire that was on the brazier, until all the roll was consumed into the fire that was on the brazier.
οὐκ ἐζήτησαν καὶ οὐ διέρρηξαν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ οἱ παῖδες αὐτοῦ οἱ ἀκούοντες πάντας τοὺς λόγους τούτους
And the king and his servants, who were hearing all these words, did not seek nor tear their garments.
And Elnathan and Gedaliah and Gamariah supported the king so as not to burn the scroll
ἐνετείλατο ὁ βασιλεὺς τῷ Ιερεμεηλ υἱῷ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τῷ Σαραια υἱῷ Εσριηλ συλλαβεῖν τὸν Βαρουχ καὶ τὸν Ιερεμιαν καὶ κατεκρύβησαν
And the king ordered Jerahmeel the son of the king and Seraiah the son of Ezriel to seize Baruch and Jeremiah, and they hid themselves.
ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρὸς Ιερεμιαν μετὰ τὸ κατακαῦσαι τὸν βασιλέα τὸ χαρτίον πάντας τοὺς λόγους οὓς ἔγραψεν Βαρουχ ἀπὸ στόματος Ιερεμιου λέγων
And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah after the king had burned the scroll, all the words that Baruch had written from the mouth of Jeremiah, saying:
λαβὲ σὺ χαρτίον ἕτερον καὶ γράψον πάντας τοὺς λόγους τοὺς ὄντας ἐπὶ τοῦ χαρτίου οὓς κατέκαυσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ιωακιμ
And take again for yourself another scroll, and write all the words that were on the scroll which Jehoiakim the king burned.
ἐρεῖς οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος σὺ κατέκαυσας τὸ χαρτίον τοῦτο λέγων διὰ τί ἔγραψας ἐπ᾿ αὐτῷ λέγων εἰσπορευόμενος εἰσπορεύσεται ὁ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσει τὴν γῆν ταύτην καὶ ἐκλείψει ἀπ᾿ αὐτῆς ἄνθρωπος καὶ κτήνη
And you shall say, Thus says the Lord: You burned this sheet, saying, Why did you write on it, saying, By entering he shall enter, the king of Babylon, and he shall destroy this land and shall cause man and beasts to cease from it.
τοῦτο οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος ἐπὶ Ιωακιμ βασιλέα Ιουδα οὐκ ἔσται αὐτῷ καθήμενος ἐπὶ θρόνου Δαυιδ καὶ τὸ θνησιμαῖον αὐτοῦ ἔσται ἐρριμμένον ἐν τῷ καύματι τῆς ἡμέρας καὶ ἐν τῷ παγετῷ τῆς νυκτός
Therefore thus said the Lord concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: there shall not be for him one sitting on the throne of David, and his corpse shall be thrown out in the heat of day and in the frost of night.
ἐπισκέψομαι ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ γένος αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς παῖδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπάξω ἐπ᾿ αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐπὶ γῆν Ιουδα πάντα τὰ κακά ἃ ἐλάλησα πρὸς αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσαν
And I will visit upon him and upon his family and upon his children, and I will bring upon them and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem and upon the land of Judah all the evils which I spoke against them, and they did not listen.
ἔλαβεν Βαρουχ χαρτίον ἕτερον καὶ ἔγραψεν ἐπ᾿ αὐτῷ ἀπὸ στόματος Ιερεμιου ἅπαντας τοὺς λόγους τοῦ βιβλίου οὗ κατέκαυσεν Ιωακιμ καὶ ἔτι προσετέθησαν αὐτῷ λόγοι πλείονες ὡς οὗτοι
And Baruch took another scroll and wrote on it from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim burned, and still more words were added to it, like these.
