And it came to pass in the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his force came against Jerusalem, and they besieged it

And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth of the month, the city was breached

And all the leaders of the king of Babylon entered and sat in the middle gate: Nargalasar and Samagoth and Nabousachar and Nabousaris and Nagargasnaser Rabamag, and the rest of the leaders of the king of Babylon

And they sent and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison and gave him to Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of Shaphan, and they led him out, and he sat in the midst of the people

And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah in the courtyard of the guard, saying:

Go and say to Abdemelech the Ethiopian: Thus says the Lord God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing my words against this city for evil and not for good.

And I will save you in that day, and I will certainly not give you into the hands of the men whom you fear before their face.

For I will surely save you, and by the sword you shall by no means fall, and your life shall be for a finding, because you trusted in me, says the Lord.
