7
And now thus said the Lord Almighty: Why are you doing great evils against your souls, to cut off from Judah man and woman, infant and one nursing, so that none of you might be left?
8
to provoke me to bitterness with the works of your hands, to burn incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, into which you entered to dwell there, so that you might be cut off and so that you might become a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth
9
Have you not yourselves forgotten the evils of your fathers and the evils of the kings of Judah and the evils of your rulers and the evils of your wives, which they did in the land of Judah and outside Jerusalem?
12
to destroy all the remnant ones in Egypt, and they shall fall by the sword and by famine; from small even to great they shall fail, and they shall be for reproach and for destruction and for a curse
14
and none of the survivors of Judah who are dwelling in the land of Egypt shall be saved, to return to the land of Judah, on which they themselves hope in their souls to return there; they shall by no means return, but only as those who are escaped.
15
And all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women, a great assembly, and all the people who were sitting in the land of Egypt, in Pathure, answered Jeremiah, saying:
17
For doing we will do every word that goes out from our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers and our kings and our rulers, in the cities of Judah and outside Jerusalem; and we were filled with bread and became prosperous, and we did not see evils.
21
Was it not because of the incense with which you burned incense in the cities of Judah and outside Jerusalem, you and your fathers and your kings and your rulers and the people of the land, that the Lord remembered and it came up upon his heart?
22
And the Lord was no longer able to endure because of the presence of the evil of your deeds, because of the abominations which you did, and your land became into desolation and into impassable place and into a curse, as on this day
23
because of those whom you made incense offerings, and because of those with whom you sinned against the Lord, and you did not hear the voice of the Lord, and you did not walk in his commandments, and in his law, and in his testimonies, and these evils overtook you
25
Thus said the Lord God of Israel: You women, with your mouth you spoke and with your hands you fulfilled, saying, doing, We will do our vows which we vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and to pour out drink offerings to her. Remaining, you remained in your vows, and doing, you did.
26
Therefore hear the word of the Lord, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: behold, I have sworn by my great name, says the Lord, if my name shall still be in the mouth of all Judah, to say, As the Lord lives, Lord, in all the land of Egypt.
27
For behold, I am awake over them to harm them and not to do them good, and all Judah, those dwelling in the land of Egypt, shall fail by sword and by famine, until they cease to be.
28
And those who have been saved from the sword shall return to the land of Judah, few in number; and the remnant of Judah, those who settled in the land of Egypt to dwell there, shall know whose word will stand.
30
Thus said the Lord: Behold, I am giving Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hands of his enemy and into the hands of those seeking his life, as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and one seeking his life.
31
The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah when he was writing these words in the book from the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah
35
And you seek great things for yourself; do not seek them, for behold, I am bringing evils upon all flesh, says the Lord, and I will give your life as a found thing in every place where you may walk, there.
