And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shiloh and called together their elders and their scribes and their judges, and he set them before God

And Joshua said to all the people, Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: beyond the river your fathers dwelt from the beginning, Thara, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor, and they served other gods.

And I took your father Abraham from beyond the river and led him through all the land, and I multiplied his seed and gave him Isaac

and to Isaac Jacob and Esau, and I gave to Esau Mount Seir for him to inherit it. And Jacob and his sons went down into Egypt, and they became there into a great and many and mighty nation

And the Egyptians afflicted them, and the Lord struck Egypt with what he did to them, and after these things he brought you out

out of Egypt, and you entered into the Red Sea, and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and with horses into the Red Sea

And we cried out to the Lord, and he gave cloud and darkness between us and between the Egyptians, and he brought the sea upon them and covered them, and your eyes saw all that the Lord did in the land of Egypt; and you were in the wilderness many days.

and he brought you into the land of the Amorites who were dwelling beyond the Jordan, and they drew up in battle line against you, and the Lord gave them into your hands, and you took possession of their land and destroyed them from before you

And Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, rose up and arrayed himself against Israel and sent and called Balaam to curse you

And the Lord your God was not willing to destroy you, and blessing he blessed you, and he delivered you from their hands, and he gave them over.

And you crossed the Jordan and came to Jericho, and the inhabitants of Jericho fought against you—the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite and the Hittite and the Gergashite—and the Lord delivered them into your hands

And I sent the hornet before you, and it drove them out from before you, twelve kings of the Amorrites, not by your sword, nor by your bow

And he gave you a land on which you did not labor, and cities that you did not build, and you settled in them, and vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant; you will eat.

And now fear the Lord and serve him in uprightness and in righteousness, and put away the foreign gods which your fathers served beyond the river and in Egypt, and serve the Lord

But if it does not seem good to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve, whether the gods of your fathers who are beyond the river, or the gods of the Amorites among whom you dwell on their land; but I and my house will serve the Lord, because he is holy.

And the people answered and said, Far be it from us to forsake the Lord, so as to serve other gods.

The Lord our God, he himself is God; he himself brought us up and our fathers out of Egypt, and preserved us in all the way in which we walked in it, and among all the nations through whom we passed.

And the Lord drove out the Amorite and all the nations that were dwelling in the land from before us; but we also will serve the Lord, for he is our God.

And Joshua said to the people, You shall surely not be able to serve the Lord, because he is a holy God, and this one, being jealous, will not forgive your sins and your lawless deeds.

When you abandon the Lord and serve other gods, and he comes and harms you and utterly destroys you because of what good he did for you

And the people said to Joshua, No, but to the Lord we will serve.

And Joshua said to the people, You are witnesses against yourselves that you yourselves chose the Lord, to serve him.

And now remove the foreign gods that are among you, and direct your heart toward the Lord God of Israel.

And the people said to Joshua, To the Lord we will serve, and his voice we will obey.

And Joshua made a covenant with the people on that day and gave to it a law and judgment in Shiloh before the tent of the God of Israel

And he wrote these words in a book, the law of God, and Joshua took a great stone and set it up under the terebinth, opposite the Lord

And Joshua said to the people, Behold, this stone shall be among you for a witness, because it has heard all the things that were spoken to it by the Lord, whatever he spoke to us today; and this shall be among you for a witness in the last days, whenever you should lie to the Lord my God.

And Joshua sent the people away, and each departed to his place.

And Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua and all the days of the elders, as many as prolonged the time after Joshua, and as many as saw all the works of the Lord, as many as he did for Israel.

And it came to pass after these things that Joshua son of Nun, servant of the Lord, died, a hundred and ten years old.

And they buried him in the borders of his allotment in Thamnathasachara, in the hill country of Ephraim, north of the mountain of Gaas.

And the bones of Joseph the sons of Israel brought up out of Egypt, and they buried them in Shechem, in the portion of the field that Jacob acquired from the Amorites who were dwelling in Shechem, for a hundred lambs, and he gave it to Joseph as a portion.

And after these things Eleazar son of Aaron the high priest died, and he was buried in Gabaath of Phinees his son, which he gave to him in the mountain of Ephraim
