And after Abimelech Tola son of Puah, son of his father’s brother, a man of Issachar, arose to save Israel; and he himself dwelt in Samaria, in the hill country of Ephraim
And there came to be for him thirty-two sons riding on thirty-two colts, and thirty-two cities to them, and he called them Havvoth Jair, to this day, which are in the land of Gilead
And the sons of Israel again did evil before the Lord, and they served the Baals and the Ashtaroth and the gods of Sidon and the gods of Moab and the gods of the sons of Ammon and the gods of the Philistines, and they forsook the Lord and did not serve him.
And they crushed and shattered the sons of Israel in that year, eighteen years, all the sons of Israel beyond the Jordan, in the land of the Amorite, in Gilead.
And the sons of Ammon crossed over the Jordan to wage war also against Judah and Benjamin and against the house of Ephraim, and the sons of Israel were greatly oppressed.
And the sons of Israel said to the Lord, We have sinned; do you to us according to all whatever may be pleasing before you, only, Lord, deliver us in this day.
And they removed the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord, and it was not well-pleasing among the people, and he became fainthearted in the toil of Israel
And the rulers of the people of Gilead said, each man to his neighbor, What man is he who will begin to wage war against the sons of Ammon and will be for head over all those who dwell in Gilead?
