ὑμᾶς λέγει κύριος καὶ εἴπατε ἐν τίνι ἠγάπησας ἡμᾶς οὐκ ἀδελφὸς ἦν Ησαυ τοῦ Ιακωβ λέγει κύριος καὶ ἠγάπησα τὸν Ιακωβ
I have loved you, says the Lord. And you said, In what have you loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? says the Lord. Yet I loved Jacob.
but Esau I hated, and I set his borders for destruction and his inheritance for the dwellings of the wilderness
ἐρεῖ ἡ Ιδουμαία κατέστραπται καὶ ἐπιστρέψωμεν καὶ ἀνοικοδομήσωμεν τὰς ἐρήμους τάδε λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ αὐτοὶ οἰκοδομήσουσιν καὶ ἐγὼ καταστρέψω καὶ ἐπικληθήσεται αὐτοῖς ὅρια ἀνομίας καὶ λαὸς ἐφ᾿ ὃν παρατέτακται κύριος ἕως αἰῶνος
Because Idumea will say, It has been overthrown, and let us return and rebuild the ruins, thus says the Lord Almighty: They will build, and I will tear down; and they will be called borders of lawlessness, and a people against whom the Lord has set himself in array forever.
And your eyes shall see, and you shall say, The Lord has been magnified beyond the borders of Israel.
δοξάζει πατέρα καὶ δοῦλος τὸν κύριον αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰ πατήρ εἰμι ἐγώ ποῦ ἐστιν ἡ δόξα μου καὶ εἰ κύριός εἰμι ἐγώ ποῦ ἐστιν ὁ φόβος μου λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ ὑμεῖς οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ φαυλίζοντες τὸ ὄνομά μου καὶ εἴπατε ἐν τίνι ἐφαυλίσαμεν τὸ ὄνομά σου
A son honors a father, and a slave his lord. And if I am a father, where is my glory? And if I am a lord, where is my fear? says the Lord Almighty. You, the priests, who despise my name. And you said, In what have we despised your name?
πρὸς τὸ θυσιαστήριόν μου ἄρτους ἠλισγημένους καὶ εἴπατε ἐν τίνι ἠλισγήσαμεν αὐτούς ἐν τῷ λέγειν ὑμᾶς τράπεζα κυρίου ἐξουδενωμένη ἐστὶν καὶ τὰ ἐπιτιθέμενα βρώματα ἐξουδενωμένα
bringing to my altar polluted breads, and you said, In what have we polluted them? In your saying, The table of the Lord is despised, and the food set upon it is despised.
ἐὰν προσαγάγητε τυφλὸν εἰς θυσίαν οὐ κακόν καὶ ἐὰν προσαγάγητε χωλὸν ἢ ἄρρωστον οὐ κακόν προσάγαγε δὴ αὐτὸ τῷ ἡγουμένῳ σου εἰ προσδέξεται αὐτό εἰ λήμψεται πρόσωπόν σου λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ
For if you bring a blind one for sacrifice, is it not evil? And if you bring a lame or sick one, is it not evil? Bring it now to your ruler; will he receive you favorably? Will he accept your person? says the Lord Almighty.
νῦν ἐξιλάσκεσθε τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν καὶ δεήθητε αὐτοῦ ἐν χερσὶν ὑμῶν γέγονεν ταῦτα εἰ λήμψομαι ἐξ ὑμῶν πρόσωπα ὑμῶν λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ
And now appease the face of your God and entreat him; these things have come from your hands. Will I accept faces from you? says the Lord Almighty.
καὶ ἐν ὑμῖν συγκλεισθήσονται θύραι καὶ οὐκ ἀνάψετε τὸ θυσιαστήριόν μου δωρεάν οὐκ ἔστιν μου θέλημα ἐν ὑμῖν λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ καὶ θυσίαν οὐ προσδέξομαι ἐκ τῶν χειρῶν ὑμῶν
For even among you the doors will be shut, and you will not kindle my altar for nothing; my will is not in you, says the Lord Almighty, and I will not accept sacrifice from your hands.
ἀπ᾿ ἀνατολῶν ἡλίου ἕως δυσμῶν τὸ ὄνομά μου δεδόξασται ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν καὶ ἐν παντὶ τόπῳ θυμίαμα προσάγεται τῷ ὀνόματί μου καὶ θυσία καθαρά διότι μέγα τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ
For from the rising of the sun even to its setting my name has been glorified among the nations, and in every place incense is brought near to my name, and a pure sacrifice, for my name is great among the nations, says the Lord Almighty.
δὲ βεβηλοῦτε αὐτὸ ἐν τῷ λέγειν ὑμᾶς τράπεζα κυρίου ἠλισγημένη ἐστίν καὶ τὰ ἐπιτιθέμενα ἐξουδένωνται βρώματα αὐτοῦ
But you profane it in your saying: The table of the Lord is defiled, and its food placed upon it is despised.
εἴπατε ταῦτα ἐκ κακοπαθείας ἐστίν καὶ ἐξεφύσησα αὐτὰ λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ καὶ εἰσεφέρετε ἁρπάγματα καὶ τὰ χωλὰ καὶ τὰ ἐνοχλούμενα καὶ ἐὰν φέρητε τὴν θυσίαν εἰ προσδέξομαι αὐτὰ ἐκ τῶν χειρῶν ὑμῶν λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ
And you said, These are from hardship; and I blew them away, says the Lord Almighty. And you were bringing stolen things and the lame and the troubled, and if you bring the sacrifice, will I accept them from your hands? says the Lord Almighty
ἐπικατάρατος ὃς ἦν δυνατὸς καὶ ὑπῆρχεν ἐν τῷ ποιμνίῳ αὐτοῦ ἄρσεν καὶ εὐχὴ αὐτοῦ ἐπ᾿ αὐτῷ καὶ θύει διεφθαρμένον τῷ κυρίῳ διότι βασιλεὺς μέγας ἐγώ εἰμι λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ καὶ τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐπιφανὲς ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν
And cursed is the one who had power, and there was in his flock a male, and his vow is upon it, and he sacrifices a corrupt thing to the Lord, for I am a great king, says the Lord Almighty, and my name is manifest among the nations.
