And Chananis the king of Arad, who dwelt by the wilderness, heard, for Israel came by the way of Atharin, and he made war against Israel and took from them captive spoil.
And the Lord listened to the voice of Israel and gave over the Canaanite under his hand, and he devoted him and his cities to destruction, and they called the name of that place Anathema
And the people spoke against God and against Moses, saying, Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to kill us in the wilderness? For there is no bread and no water, and our soul is disgusted with the empty bread.

For Heshbon is a city of Sihon king of the Amorrites, and he fought against the king of Moab formerly, and they took all his land from Aroer as far as Arnon
Woe to you, Moab; you have perished, people of Chemosh; his sons were given over to escape, and his daughters to captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.
And the Lord said to Moses, Do not fear him, because I have delivered him into your hands, and all his people, and all his land, and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorrites, who was dwelling in Heshbon.
