Avenge the vengeance of the sons of Israel from the Midianites, and afterwards you shall be added to your people
And Moses spoke to the people, saying, Arm from among you men to draw up in battle before the Lord against Midian, to give vengeance from the Lord to Midian.
A thousand from a tribe, a thousand from a tribe, from all the tribes of Israel, send out to draw up for battle.
And they numbered out from the thousands of Israel a thousand from a tribe, twelve thousand armed for battle
And Moses sent them, a thousand from a tribe, a thousand from a tribe, with their force, and Phinehas son of Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, and the holy vessels and the trumpets of signals in their hands
And they arrayed themselves against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses, and they killed every male.
And the kings of Midian they killed, along with their wounded ones, and Evi and Sur and Rokom and Our and Robok, five kings of Midian; and Balaam son of Beor they killed with the sword, together with their wounded ones
And they took as plunder the women of Midian and their baggage and their livestock and all their property and their wealth they took as plunder
And all their cities and their houses and their settlements they burned with fire
And they took all the plunder and all their spoils, from man to livestock.
And they brought the captives and the spoil and the prey to Moses and to Eleazar the priest and to all the sons of Israel, to the camp in the plains of Moab, which is by the Jordan opposite Jericho.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the rulers of the congregation went out to meet them outside the camp
And Moses was angry with the overseers of the force, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, those coming from the battle line of war
And Moses said to them, Why have you kept every female alive?
For these were to the sons of Israel according to the word of Balaam, to turn away and to disregard the word of the Lord because of Peor, and the plague happened in the assembly of the Lord
And now kill every male in every assembly, and every woman who has known the bed of a male kill.
But all the booty of the women who have not known a man’s bed, keep them alive for yourselves.
And you shall camp outside the camp for seven days; everyone who has killed, and everyone who touches the wounded one, shall be purified on the third day and on the seventh day, you and your captivity.
And every garment and every leather vessel and every work of goats’ hair and every wooden vessel you shall purify.
And Eleazar the priest said to the men of the force, those coming from the battle line of war: This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord commanded Moses.
Only the gold and the silver and the bronze and the iron and the lead and the tin
Everything that shall pass through fire shall also be cleansed, except that it shall be purified with the water of purification; and all that ever does not pass through fire shall pass through water
And you shall wash your garments on the seventh day, and you shall be cleansed, and afterward you shall enter into the camp.
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying
Take the sum of the spoil of the captivity, from man to beast, you and Eleazar the priest and the leaders of the fathers of the assembly
And you shall divide the spoil between the warriors who go out to the battle line and between all the congregation
And you shall take a tribute for the Lord from the men of war who have gone out to battle, one soul out of five hundred, from the men and from the beasts and from the oxen and from the sheep and from the goats
And from their half you shall take, and you shall give Eleazar the priest the firstfruits of the Lord
And from the half of the sons of Israel you shall take one out of the fifty, from the men and from the cattle and from the sheep and from the donkeys and from all the livestock, and you shall give them to the Levites who keep the guard duties in the tent of the Lord.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.
And the surplus of the plunder that the men, the warriors, plundered from the sheep was six hundred thousand and seventy-five thousand.
and seventy-two thousand oxen
and donkeys sixty-one thousand
and the persons of women who had not known a man’s bed, all the persons were thirty-two thousand Greek
And the half, the portion of those who had gone out to war, out of the number of the sheep, was three hundred and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred.
And the tribute to the Lord from the sheep was six hundred seventy-five
and oxen, thirty-six thousand, and the lord’s tribute, seventy-two
and donkeys, thirty thousand and five hundred, and the tribute to the Lord, one and sixty
and human persons, sixteen thousand; and their end to the Lord, thirty-two persons
And Moses gave the tribute to the Lord, the heave offering for God, to Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Moses
from the half of the sons of Israel, whom Moses divided from the men of war
And the half, the portion of the congregation, from the sheep was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred.
and thirty-six thousand oxen
thirty thousand donkeys and five hundred
and sixteen thousand souls of men
And Moses took from the half of the sons of Israel, the one from the fifty, from the men and from the cattle, and gave them to the Levites, the ones guarding the charges of the tent of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
And all the officers appointed over the thousands of the force, the commanders of thousands and the captains of hundreds, came near to Moses.
And they said to Moses, Your servants have taken the total of the men of the warriors who are among us, and not one of them is missing.
And we have brought the gift to the Lord, each man what he found: a golden vessel, a chain, and a bracelet, and a ring, and an armlet, to make atonement for us before the Lord
And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from them, every worked vessel.
And all the gold, the offering that they took away for the Lord, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels from the commanders of thousands and from the commanders of hundreds
And the men, the warriors, plundered each for himself
And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from the commanders of thousands and from the commanders of hundreds and brought them into the tent of testimony, a memorial for the sons of Israel before the Lord
