My soul was poured out to death, very near the gates of Hades, with a sinner.
τῷ διενεχθῆναι ψυχήν μου ἀπὸ κυρίου θεοῦ Ισραηλ εἰ μὴ ὁ κύριος ἀντελάβετό μου τῷ ἐλέει αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα
At the being estranged my soul from the Lord God of Israel, if not the Lord had taken hold of me with his mercy forever
He pricked me like the spur of a horse at its watchfulness; my savior and helper at every time saved me
I will confess you, O God, because you took hold of me for salvation, and you did not reckon me with the sinners for destruction
Do not remove your mercy from me, O God, nor your remembrance from my heart until death
Master me, O God, from evil sin and from every evil woman causing a fool to stumble
And let not the beauty of a lawless woman deceive me, nor anything subject to useless sin.
Direct the works of my hands in your place, and keep my steps in your remembrance.
γλῶσσάν μου καὶ τὰ χείλη μου ἐν λόγοις ἀληθείας περίστειλον ὀργὴν καὶ θυμὸν ἄλογον μακρὰν ποίησον ἀπ᾿ ἐμοῦ
Gird my tongue and my lips with words of truth; make anger and irrational wrath far from me
Murmuring and faintheartedness in affliction remove far from me, if I should sin while you discipline me for repentance
With good will but with cheerfulness strengthen my soul; in your strengthening my soul, the thing given will be enough for me.
For if you do not strengthen, who will endure discipline in poverty?
In the reproving of a soul in the hand of his corruption, your testing in his flesh and in affliction of poverty
In the enduring of the righteous in these things, he will be shown mercy by the Lord.
