Hear, O Lord, my prayer, and let my cry come to you.
Do not turn your face away from me in the day in which I am afflicted; incline your ear to me in the day in which I call upon you; quickly hear me.
For my days have vanished like smoke, and my bones have been burned like a hearth.
My heart was struck like grass and dried up, because I forgot to eat my bread
Because of the sound of my groaning my bone has stuck to my flesh
I have become like a pelican in the wilderness; I have become like an owl in a ruined place.
I stayed awake and became like a solitary sparrow on a roof
All day long my enemies reproached me, and those who praised me swore against me.
For I ate ashes like bread, and I mixed my drink with weeping
Because of the face of your anger and your wrath, for lifting me up you dashed me down.
My days have declined like a shadow, and I have dried up like grass
But you, Lord, remain forever, and your memorial is for generation and generation.
You will arise and have mercy on Zion, because it is time to have mercy on her, because the time has come
For your servants took pleasure in her stones, and they will pity her dust.
And the nations will fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth your glory
For the Lord will build up Zion, and he will appear in his glory
He looked upon the prayer of the lowly, and did not despise their supplication.
Let this be written for another generation, and the people that is being created will praise the Lord.
For the Lord looked out from his holy height; from heaven he gazed upon the earth
to hear the groaning of the prisoners, to set free the sons of the slain
to proclaim in Zion the name of the Lord and his praise in Jerusalem
when peoples are gathered together and kingdoms to serve the Lord
He answered him on the way of his strength: make known to me the smallness of my days.
Do not take me up in the midst of my days; your years are throughout all generations.
In the beginning you, Lord, founded the earth, and the heavens are works of your hands.
They will perish, but you remain, and all will grow old like a garment, and like a cloak you will change them, and they will be changed.
But you are the same, and your years will not fail.
The sons of your servants shall dwell, and their seed shall be guided forever.
