The Koine Bible

A psalm of Asaph. How good God is to Israel, to the upright in heart.

But as for me, my feet were almost shaken; my steps had nearly slipped.

For I was jealous at the lawless, seeing the peace of sinners.

For there is no relief in their death, and steadfastness in their scourge.

They are not in the troubles of men, and with men they will not be scourged.

Therefore pride has held them; they have wrapped themselves in injustice and their impiety.

Their injustice shall go out as from fat; they have passed into the disposition of the heart

They schemed and spoke in wickedness; they spoke injustice against the height.

They set their mouth in heaven, and their tongue passed through the earth.

Therefore my people will return here, and full days will be found for them

And they said, How did God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High?

Behold, these are sinners, and they prosper forever; they have possessed wealth.

And I said, Then in vain have I justified my heart, and washed my hands among the innocent.

And I was scourged all the day, and my reproofs were for the mornings

If I said, I will tell thus, behold, I would have dealt falsely with the generation of your sons.

And I undertook to know this; it is labor before me.

until I entered into the sanctuary of God and understood their end

Only because of their treacheries you set them; you cast them down when they were lifted up

How they became a desolation, suddenly they failed, they perished because of their lawlessness.

Like a dream of one waking, O Lord, in your city you will despise their image.

For my heart was inflamed, and my kidneys were changed.

And I was brought to nothing and did not know; I became brutish before you.

And I am continually with you; you have taken hold of my right hand.

With your counsel you guided me, and with glory you received me.

For what is there to me in heaven, and beside you what have I desired on the earth?

My heart and my flesh have failed; God is the God of my heart, and my portion, God forever

For behold, those who distance themselves from you will perish; you have destroyed all who are unfaithful away from you.

But for me, to cleave to God is good, to place my hope in the Lord, to declare all your praises in the gates of the daughter of Zion
