And Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there, and behold, the kinsman-redeemer was passing by, whom Boaz had said, and Boaz said to him, Turn aside, sit down here, hidden one. And he turned aside and sat down.

And Boaz took ten men from the elders of the city and said, Sit down here; and they sat down.

And Boaz said to the near kinsman, The portion of the field that is our brother Abimelech’s, which has been given to Naomi, who is returning from the field of Moab,

And I said, I will uncover your ear, saying, Acquire in the presence of those sitting and in the presence of the elders of my people: if you redeem, redeem; but if not, redeem not, tell me, and I will know, that there is no one besides you to redeem, and I am after you. But he said, I am; I will redeem.

And Boos said, In the day of your acquiring the field from the hand of Noemin and from Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the one who has died, you must also acquire her, so as to raise up the name of the one who has died upon his inheritance.

And the near kinsman said, I shall not be able to act as near kinsman for myself, lest I destroy my inheritance; act as near kinsman for yourself with my right of near kinship, for I shall not be able to act as near kinsman.

And this was the ordinance formerly in Israel concerning redemption and concerning exchange, to confirm every matter: and a man used to remove his sandal and give it to his neighbor who was redeeming his redemption, and this was a testimony in Israel.

And the near kinsman said to Boaz, Acquire for yourself my right of redemption, and he loosed his sandal and gave it to him.

And Boaz said to the elders and to all the people, You are witnesses today that I have acquired all the things of Abimelech and all that belongs to Chelion and Mahlon from the hand of Noemin.

and moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, I have acquired for myself as a wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, and the name of the dead shall not be cut off from among his brothers and from the tribe of his people; you are witnesses today

And all the people who were in the gate, the witnesses and the elders, said, May the Lord give your wife who is entering into your house like Rachel and like Leah, who both built the house of Israel, and did mightily in Ephratha; and let there be a name in Bethlehem.

And may your house become as the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, from the seed which the Lord will give you from this maidservant.

And Boaz took Ruth, and she became to him as wife, and he went in to her, and the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son

And the women said to Naomi, Blessed is the Lord, who did not leave you today without a kinsman, and let his name be called in Israel.

and he shall be to you for a restoring of life and for the sustaining of your gray hair, because your daughter-in-law who loved you has borne him, who is better to you than seven sons

And Naomi took the child and placed it in her bosom, and it became to her for a nurse.

And the neighbors called his name, saying, A son has been born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed; he is the father of Jesse, father of David.

And these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begot Esrom.

And Hezron begot Aram, and Aram begot Amminadab

And Aminadab fathered Naasson, and Naasson fathered Salman.

and Salmon fathered Boaz, and Boaz fathered Obed

And Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David
