Do not give your soul to a woman to step over it against your strength
Do not meet a woman who is associating, lest perhaps you fall into her snares
With a singing woman do not tarry, lest you be caught in her enticements.
Do not look closely at a virgin, lest you be ensnared by her rebukes.
Do not give your soul to prostitutes, lest you destroy your inheritance.
Do not look around in the streets of a city, and do not wander in its deserted places.
ὀφθαλμὸν ἀπὸ γυναικὸς εὐμόρφου καὶ μὴ καταμάνθανε κάλλος ἀλλότριον ἐν κάλλει γυναικὸς πολλοὶ ἐπλανήθησαν καὶ ἐκ τούτου φιλία ὡς πῦρ ἀνακαίεται
Turn away your eye from a beautiful woman, and do not observe another’s beauty; for by the beauty of a woman many have been led astray, and from this friendship kindles like fire
ὑπάνδρου γυναικὸς μὴ κάθου τὸ σύνολον καὶ μὴ συμβολοκοπήσῃς μετ᾿ αὐτῆς ἐν οἴνῳ μήποτε ἐκκλίνῃ ἡ ψυχή σου ἐπ᾿ αὐτὴν καὶ τῷ πνεύματί σου ὀλίσθῃς εἰς ἀπώλειαν
Do not sit at all with a married woman, and do not dine with her over wine, lest your soul turn aside toward her and you slip into destruction by your spirit
ἐγκαταλίπῃς φίλον ἀρχαῖον ὁ γὰρ πρόσφατος οὐκ ἔστιν ἔφισος αὐτῷ οἶνος νέος φίλος νέος ἐὰν παλαιωθῇ μετ᾿ εὐφροσύνης πίεσαι αὐτόν
Do not abandon an old friend, for the recent one is not equal to him. New wine, a new friend; if it grows old, you shall drink it with gladness.
Do not envy the glory of a sinner, for you do not know what his downfall will be.
Do not take pleasure in the favor of the ungodly; remember that even to Hades they will certainly not be justified.
ἄπεχε ἀπὸ ἀνθρώπου ὃς ἔχει ἐξουσίαν τοῦ φονεύειν καὶ οὐ μὴ ὑποπτεύσῃς φόβον θανάτου κἂν προσέλθῃς μὴ πλημμελήσῃς ἵνα μὴ ἀφέληται τὴν ζωήν σου ἐπίγνωθι ὅτι ἐν μέσῳ παγίδων διαβαίνεις καὶ ἐπὶ ἐπάλξεων πόλεως περιπατεῖς
Keep far away from a man who has authority to kill, and do not suspect fear of death, even if you approach, do not offend, lest he take away your life. Know that you are passing among snares and walking upon the battlements of a city.
According to your strength, consider your neighbors, and with the wise take counsel.
Let your deliberation be with the prudent, and let all your discourse be in the law of the Most High.
Let righteous men be your table companions, and let your boasting be in the fear of the Lord.
The work of craftsmen will be praised in the hand, and the leader of a people will be wise in his word.
A gossipy man is dreadful in his city, and the rash in his speech will be hated.
