Do good to the godly man, and you will find recompense, and if not from him, but from the Most High.
There will not be good things for him who persists in evils and for him who does not show mercy with almsgiving
Give to the godly man, and do not take hold of the sinner.
ποίησον ταπεινῷ καὶ μὴ δῷς ἀσεβεῖ ἐμπόδισον τοὺς ἄρτους αὐτοῦ καὶ μὴ δῷς αὐτῷ ἵνα μὴ ἐν αὐτοῖς σε δυναστεύσῃ διπλάσια γὰρ κακὰ εὑρήσεις ἐν πᾶσιν ἀγαθοῖς οἷς ἂν ποιήσῃς αὐτῷ
Do good to the humble, and do not give to the ungodly; hinder his loaves, and do not give to him, lest in them he overpower you, for you will find double evils in all good things that you might do to him.
For even the Most High has hated sinners, and to the impious he will repay vengeance.
Give to the good man, and do not receive from the sinner.
A friend will not be avenged in good things, and an enemy will not be hidden in evils.
In a good man’s circumstances, his enemies are in grief, and in his misfortunes even the friend will be separated.
Do not trust your enemy forever, for as bronze rusts, so his wickedness does.
ἐὰν ταπεινωθῇ καὶ πορεύηται συγκεκυφώς ἐπίστησον τὴν ψυχήν σου καὶ φύλαξαι ἀπ᾿ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔσῃ αὐτῷ ὡς ἐκμεμαχὼς ἔσοπτρον καὶ γνώσῃ ὅτι οὐκ εἰς τέλος κατίωσεν
And if he is humbled and goes about bowed down, take care for your soul and guard yourself from him, and you will be to him as a polished mirror, and you will know that he has not grown rusty altogether
στήσῃς αὐτὸν παρὰ σεαυτῷ μὴ ἀνατρέψας σε στῇ ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον σου μὴ καθίσῃς αὐτὸν ἐκ δεξιῶν σου μήποτε ζητήσῃ τὴν καθέδραν σου καὶ ἐπ᾿ ἐσχάτων ἐπιγνώσῃ τοὺς λόγους μου καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν ῥημάτων μου κατανυγήσῃ
Do not set him beside yourself, lest, after overturning you, he stand in your place. Do not seat him at your right hand, lest he seek your seat, and at the end you will recognize my words and be pierced by my sayings.
Who will pity an enchanter bitten by a snake, and all those who come near wild beasts?
So also the one who approaches a sinful man and is mingled in his sins
For a time he will stay with you, and if you turn aside he will certainly not endure.
ἐν τοῖς χείλεσιν αὐτοῦ γλυκανεῖ ὁ ἐχθρὸς καὶ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ βουλεύσεται ἀνατρέψαι σε εἰς βόθρον ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτοῦ δακρύσει ὁ ἐχθρός καὶ ἐὰν εὕρῃ καιρόν οὐκ ἐμπλησθήσεται ἀφ᾿ αἵματος
and with his lips the enemy will make sweet, and in his heart he will plan to overthrow you into a pit; in his eyes the enemy will weep, and if he finds time, he will not be satisfied from blood
If evil meets you, you will find him there before you, and as though helping he will slip your heel
κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ κινήσει καὶ ἐπικροτήσει ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτοῦ καὶ πολλὰ διαψιθυρίσει καὶ ἀλλοιώσει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ
He will shake his head and clap with his hands and whisper much and change his face
