He who disciplines his son will benefit from him, and among acquaintances he will boast over him
He who teaches his son will make his enemy jealous, and in the presence of friends he will rejoice over him.
His father died, and as if he had not died, for he left behind after him one like him.
In his life he saw and rejoiced, and in his end he was not grieved.
Against enemies he left one to avenge, and to friends one to repay favor
Whoever pampers a son will bind up his wounds, and at every cry his inward parts will be troubled.
An unbroken horse goes out hard, and a son left to himself goes out headstrong.
Spoil a child, and he will make you afraid; play with him, and he will grieve you.
Do not laugh together with him, lest you be grieved together, and afterward you will gnash your teeth.
Do not give him authority in youth.
Bend his sides while he is still a child, lest once hardened he disobey you
Discipline your son and work with him, so that you may not stumble because of his disgrace.
Better a poor man sound and strong in his condition than a rich man flogged in his body.
Health and good condition are better than all gold, and a sound body than boundless wealth.
There is no wealth better than health of the body, and there is no joy above joy of heart.
Death is better than a bitter life, and eternal rest than a lasting sickness.

A cheerful and good heart will care for its meals.
