The Koine Bible

For your incorruptible spirit is in all things.

Therefore you reprove those who fall away little by little, and in what things they sin you admonish them by reminding them, so that being freed from wickedness they may trust in you, Lord

For even the former inhabitants of your holy land

hating, because they were doing most hateful deeds of sorceries and profane rites

and merciless murders of children, and a feast of human flesh, devouring the inward parts, and of blood from the midst of a secret band of initiates

and destroyers of helpless souls you willed to destroy through the hands of our fathers

so that it might receive a worthy colony of children of God, the land, most precious of all, with you

But even of these as of men you spared, and you sent wasps as forerunners of your camp, so that little by little they might destroy them

not being powerless to give the impious into the hands of the righteous in battle, or to wipe them out at one stroke by savage beasts or by a sharp word

But judging little by little you were giving place for repentance, not being ignorant that their origin is evil and their malice is inborn, and that their reasoning shall by no means be changed forever

For a cursed seed was from the beginning, nor did you give anyone pardon for the things in which they sinned through fear.

For who will say, What have you done? or who will withstand your judgment? And who will accuse you concerning nations that have perished, which you made? Or who will come to stand before you as avenger against unrighteous men?

For there is no god except you, to whom care is for all, that you might show that you judged not unjustly

Neither king nor tyrant will be able to look you in the face concerning the things for which you punished.

But being righteous, you govern all things righteously, considering it alien to your power to condemn one who ought not to be punished.

For your strength is the beginning of righteousness, and to be lord of all makes you spare all.

For you show strength when you are disbelieved, and you expose the boldness among those who know your power’s perfection.

But you, exercising mastery in strength, judge with gentleness and govern us with much forbearance, for the ability is present with you whenever you will it.

And by such works you taught your people that the righteous must be humane, and you made your sons hopeful, because you give repentance for sins.

For if with so great care and oversight I punished enemies of your children and those owing death, granting times and place through which they might be released from wickedness

With how great exactness you judged your sons, to whose fathers you gave oaths and covenants of good promises

Therefore, chastising us, your enemies, with ten thousand scourges, so that, while judging, we may be mindful of your goodness, but while being judged we may look for mercy

Therefore you also tormented, through their own abominations, those who lived out their life in foolishness unjustly

For along the ways of error they wandered farther, supposing as gods the most shameful and dishonored things, even the likenesses of infants in animals, deceived like foolish children.

Therefore you sent judgment for mockery upon senseless children

But those not disciplined by playful reproofs will experience a judgment worthy of God.

For on the things by which they themselves were suffering, they were indignant; at these things, by which they had supposed them to be gods, while being punished among them, they saw him whom they had long before denied to know as God, and they recognized him as true; therefore also the end of condemnation came upon them.
