But to the ungodly merciless wrath came upon them to the end, for it knew beforehand also their things to come

For they themselves, having allowed them to depart and having sent them on their way with haste, will pursue them, having changed their mind

For still holding the mourning rites in their hands and lamenting at the graves of the dead, they drew upon themselves another thought of folly, and those whom they were begging from them they drove out as fugitives.

For worthy necessity drew them to this end, and forgetfulness of the things that had happened cast itself in, so that they might complete the punishment lacking to the torments.

And your people indeed shall try a strange journey, but those will find a strange death.

For the whole creation was again fashioned anew in its own kind, serving your commands, so that your children might be kept unharmed.

The cloud overshadowing the camp, and from pre-existing water a dry rising up of land was seen, from the Red Sea an unobstructed way and a grass-bearing plain from a violent surge

through which all the nations passed, those being protected by your hand, having seen wondrous signs

For as horses they were fed, and as lambs they leaped, praising you, Lord, the one who delivered them

For they were still mindful of the things in their sojourning, how the land brought forth gnats instead of living creatures, and the river spouted out a multitude of frogs instead of water animals.

And afterward they saw also a new coming into being of birds, when, led on by desire, they asked for delicacies of luxury.

For as a consolation, from the sea there came up for them quails in abundance

And the punishments came upon the sinners, not without the previous proofs, by the violence of the thunderbolts; for they were suffering justly by their own wickednesses, for they even practiced a more severe hatred of strangers.

For those who did not know them did not receive them when they were present, but these enslaved kindly foreigners.

And not only so, but there will be some visitation upon them, since they were taking in the strangers with hostility

But those who had received with feasting those who had already partaken of the same righteous things harmed them with grievous labors.

And they were struck also with blindness, like those on the doors of the righteous, when, being enveloped in boundless darkness, each sought the passage of his own doors.

For through themselves the elements, being transformed, as in a psaltery the notes of the rhythm, change the name, always remaining by sound, which is to be inferred accurately from the sight of the things that have happened.

For dry land was being changed into watery places, and things that swim were passing over onto the earth.

Fire prevailed in water beyond its own power, and water of a quenching nature forgot its power to quench

Flames, on the contrary, did not wither the flesh of perishable living creatures, nor the easily melted, crystal-like, well-melted kind of ambrosial food

For in all things, O Lord, you magnified your people and glorified them, and you did not overlook them in every time and place, standing by them.
