And do not become like your fathers, to whom the prophets before made appeal, saying, Thus says the Lord Almighty: Turn back from your evil ways and from your evil practices. And they did not pay attention to listen to me, says the Lord.
But receive my words and my ordinances, as many as I command by my Spirit to my servants the prophets, who overtook your fathers; and they answered and said, As the Lord Almighty has purposed to do according to your ways and according to your practices, so he has done to you.
On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, this is the month Shevat, in the second year over Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah son of Berechiah, son of Addo the prophet, saying
I saw by night, and behold, a man riding on a red horse, and this one was standing among the two mountains, the shaded ones, and behind him were red, and dappled, and variegated, and white horses.
And they answered the angel of the Lord who stood among the mountains and said, We have gone around all the land, and behold, all the land is inhabited and is at rest.
And the angel of the Lord answered and said, Lord Almighty, until when will you not have mercy on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, which you have disregarded? This is the seventieth year.
And the angel who was speaking in me said to me, Cry out, saying, Thus says the Lord Almighty: I have been jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
Therefore thus says the Lord: I will return to Jerusalem in mercy, and my house shall be built in her, says the Lord Almighty, and a measuring line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem still.
And the angel who was speaking in me said to me, Cry out, saying, Thus says the Lord Almighty: Yet cities shall overflow with good things, and the Lord will yet have mercy on Zion and will yet choose Jerusalem.
