Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy the brother, to the church of God that is in Corinth, with all the saints who are in all Achaia.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

The one who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

For just as the sufferings of the Messiah overflow to us, so also through the Messiah our comfort overflows.

Whether we are afflicted, it is for your encouragement and salvation; whether we are comforted, it is for your encouragement, which is effective in enduring the same sufferings that we also suffer.

And our hope for you is firm, knowing that as you share in the sufferings, so also you share in the encouragement.

For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, concerning the affliction that happened to us in Asia, that we were burdened beyond measure, beyond strength, so that we despaired even of life.

But we have had the sentence of death within ourselves, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead.

who rescued us from such a deadly peril and will rescue us, in whom we have hoped that he will also continue to rescue us,

With you also cooperating on our behalf in prayer, so that through many persons the grace given to us may be thankfully acknowledged on our behalf.

For our boasting is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you.

For we do not write to you anything other than what you read or even understand, and I hope that you will fully understand until the end,

Just as you have recognized us in part, that we are your boast as you also are ours in the day of our Lord Jesus.

And with this confidence I wanted previously to come to you, so that you might have a second grace,

and to pass through Macedonia because of you, and again to come from Macedonia to you, and to be sent on by you to Judea.

Therefore, did I intend to act lightly? Or do I plan according to the flesh, so that the Yes may be Yes with me and the No may be No?

But God is faithful, so that the word we spoke to you is not Yes and No.

For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was proclaimed among you through us—through me and Silvanus and Timothy—has not become Yes and No, but in him it has become Yes.

For all the promises of God are Yes in him; therefore also through him is the Amen to God for glory through us.

Now the one who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God,

He who also sealed us and gave the guarantee of the Spirit in our hearts.

But I call God to witness concerning my soul, that I did not come to Corinth again because I was sparing you.

It is not that we rule over your faith, but we are coworkers in your joy, because you stand firm in the faith.
