Now in Antioch, there were prophets and teachers in the church: Barnabas, and Simeon who was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind, not seeing the sun, for a time. Immediately a mist and darkness fell upon him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

After the reading of the law and the prophets, the chief synagogue officers sent to them, saying, Men brothers, if there is any word of encouragement for the people, speak.

And having removed him, he raised up David to be king over them, about whom he also testified, saying, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.

After the synagogue was dismissed, many of the Jews and God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to continue in the grace of God.

Then Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly and said, It was necessary for you first to hear the word of God; since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

But the Jews incited the respectable women who worshiped and the leading men of the city, and they stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and they expelled them from their district.
