It happened that when they entered Iconium, they went together into the synagogue of the Jews and spoke in such a way that a large crowd of both Jews and Greeks believed.

But the disobedient Jews stirred up and troubled the souls of the Gentiles against the brothers.

They stayed a sufficient time, boldly speaking about the Lord who was witnessing to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done through their hands.

But the crowd of the city was divided, and some were with the Jews, and others with the apostles.

But when the attack of the Gentiles and Jews together with their leaders to insult and stone them took place,

When they realized this, they fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the surrounding region,

And there they were preaching the good news.

And a certain man, lame in his feet, was sitting in Lystra, who had been lame from his mother’s womb and had never walked.

This man heard Paul speaking, who, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be saved,

He said with a loud voice, Stand up on your feet straight; and he rose and walked around.

And the crowds, seeing what Paul had done, raised their voices in the Lycaonian language, saying, The gods have become like men and have come down to us.

They called Barnabas Zeus, and Paul Hermes, because he was the leader of the message.

The priest of Zeus, who was before the city, having brought bulls and wreaths to the gates, wanted to sacrifice along with the crowds.

But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard it, they tore their clothes and jumped out into the crowd, shouting

And saying, Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with feelings like you, announcing good news to you to turn away from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

who in the past generations allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways;

And yet he did not leave himself without witness, doing good, giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.

And saying these things, they barely stopped the crowds from sacrificing to them.

But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and persuading the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking that he was dead.

After the disciples surrounded him, he got up and entered the city. And the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe.

After they had preached the good news in that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch,

encouraging the souls of the disciples, urging them to remain in the faith and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.

Having appointed elders for them in each church, praying and fasting, they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

And having passed through Pisidia, they came into Pamphylia,

And having spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia,

And from there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been entrusted to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

And when they arrived and gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them and that he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.

And they spent a considerable amount of time with the disciples.
