After the uproar had ceased, Paul called the disciples, encouraged them, greeted them, and set out to go to Macedonia.

And having passed through those regions and encouraged them with many words, he came into Greece.

Having spent three months, when a plot was made against him by the Jews as he was about to sail to Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia.

Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea accompanied him, as well as Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, and Gaius from Derbe, and Timothy; and from Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

But these, having come alongside, stayed with us in Troas.

But we set sail after the days of Unleavened Bread from Philippi, and we came to them at Troas, where we stayed seven days.

On the first day of the week, when we had gathered to break bread, Paul was speaking to them, intending to leave the next day, and he continued his message until midnight.

Now there were many lamps in the upper room where we were gathered.

Now a certain young man named Eutychus was sitting on the window ledge, overcome by deep sleep while Paul was speaking at length. As he was overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.

But Paul went down, fell on him, and embracing him said, Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him.

And having gone up, and having broken the bread and eaten, he spoke until dawn, and in this way he left.

They brought the boy alive, and they were greatly encouraged.

But we went ahead to the ship and set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul on board from there, for he had arranged to go on foot.

And when he joined us at Assos, taking him on board, we went to Mitylene,

And from there, sailing on the next day, we came opposite Chios, and on the following day we arrived at Samos, and the day after that we came to Miletus.

For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus so that he would not spend time in Asia, for he was hurrying if possible to be in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.

From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called the elders of the church.

And when they came to him, he said to them, You yourselves know from the first day that I came into Asia how I was with you the whole time,

serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and trials that happened to me because of the plots of the Jews;

how I did not hold back anything beneficial from declaring to you and teaching you publicly and from house to house,

testifying both to Jews and Greeks about repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus.

And now, behold, bound by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,

except that the Holy Spirit solemnly warns me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me.

But I do not consider my life of any value to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

And now, behold, I know that you will no longer see my face, all of you, among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom.

Therefore I testify to you today that I am innocent of the blood of all,

For I did not hold back from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.

Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which he obtained by the blood of his own.

I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock,

And from among you men will arise speaking perverse things to draw away the disciples after themselves.

Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night and day to admonish each one with tears.

And now I entrust you to God and to the word of his grace, who is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all the sanctified.

I did not desire silver or gold or clothing.

You yourselves know that these hands served my needs and those who were with me.

I have shown you all that in this way it is necessary to labor, helping the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

And having said these things, he knelt down with all of them and prayed.

And there was a great weeping among all, and falling upon Paul's neck they kissed him,

They were especially sorrowful over the word he had spoken that they would no longer see his face. They escorted him to the ship.
