And when it was necessary for us to be separated from them to set sail, we quickly went to Cos, and on the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.

And having found a ship crossing to Phoenicia, we boarded and set sail.

When we set sail from Cyprus and left it at the right time, we sailed to Syria, and we went down to Tyre, for there the ship was unloading its cargo.

And having found the disciples, we stayed there for seven days, who through the Spirit were telling Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.

When the days were fulfilled for us to depart, we went out and were traveling, with all of them sending us off along with women and children as far as outside the city, and after kneeling on the shore, we prayed.

We embraced one another, and we went on board the ship; they, however, returned to their own homes.

But after completing the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais, and having greeted the brothers, we stayed with them one day.

The next day, having set out, we came to Caesarea, and entering the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, we stayed with him.

Now this man had four virgin daughters who were prophesying.

While we were staying for several days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea,

And coming to us, he took Paul’s belt and tied his own feet and hands with it, and said, The Holy Spirit says this: The man to whom this belt belongs, in this way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind him and will hand him over to the Gentiles.

When we heard these things, both we and the local people urged him not to go up to Jerusalem.

Then Paul answered, Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

When he would not be persuaded, we became silent, saying, Let the Lord's will be done.

After these days, having prepared, we went up to Jerusalem.

And also some of the disciples from Caesarea came with us, bringing with them Mnason, a Cypriot, an early disciple, with whom we were to stay.

When we arrived in Jerusalem, the brothers welcomed us gladly.

On the next day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present.

And after greeting them, he was explaining one by one what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.

But those who heard glorified God and said to him, Brother, you see how many thousands there are among the Jews who have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law.

They have been informed about you that you teach apostasy from Moses to all the Jews among the Gentiles, saying not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs.

What then is it? They will certainly hear that you have come.

Therefore do this that we tell you: we have four men who have a vow on themselves.

Take these men, purify yourself with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads, and all will know that what they have been informed about you is nothing, but that you yourself also live according to the law.

But concerning the Gentiles who have believed, we sent them a decision to keep themselves from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality.

Then Paul, taking the men on the appointed day, having been purified with them, entered into the temple, announcing the completion of the days of purification until the offering was brought for each one of them.

Now as the seven days were about to be completed, the Jews from Asia, seeing him in the temple, stirred up the whole crowd and laid hands on him,

Shouting, Men of Israel, help; this is the man who everywhere teaches against the people and the law and this place, and even brought Greeks into the temple and defiled this holy place.

For they had seen before Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with him, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.

The whole city was stirred up, and the crowd came together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple, and immediately the gates were shut.

While they were seeking to kill him, a report reached the commander of the cohort that the whole city of Jerusalem was in confusion,

He immediately took soldiers and centurions and ran upon them, but when they saw the tribune and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

Then the tribune came near, seized him, and ordered him to be bound with two chains, and inquired who he was and what he had done.

But others shouted something different in the crowd. And since he was not able to know the truth because of the noise, he ordered that he be brought into the barracks.

But when it came to the steps, the soldiers began to carry him because of the violence of the crowd,

For the crowd was following, shouting, Take him away.

As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he said to the commander, Is it permitted for me to say something to you? And he said, Do you know Greek?

Are you not the Egyptian who before these days stirred up and led out into the wilderness the four thousand men of the Sicarii?

But Paul said, I am a man who is a Jew, from Tarsus of Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city. And I beg you, allow me to speak to the people.

After he was allowed, Paul, standing on the steps, waved his hand to the crowd, and after there was great silence, he addressed them in the Hebrew dialect, saying
