Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along also.

I went up by revelation, and I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles, privately to those who seemed to be leaders, so that I might not be running or had run in vain.

But not even Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.

But because of the false brothers who slipped in to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus, in order to enslave us—

to whom we did not yield even for a moment in submission, so that the truth of the gospel might remain with you.

As for those who seemed to be something—whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not show favoritism—because those who seemed to be something added nothing to me,

But on the contrary, seeing that I was entrusted with the gospel of the uncircumcision just as Peter was with the circumcision,

For the one who empowered Peter for the apostolate of the circumcision also empowered me for the Gentiles,

And recognizing the grace given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were considered pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, so that we would go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.

Only that we should remember the poor, which is the very thing I also was eager to do.

But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him face to face because he was clearly wrong.

For before certain ones came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those from the circumcision.

And the rest of the Jews also joined in hypocrisy with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy.

But when I saw that they were not walking straight according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before all, If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how do you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?

We are Jews by nature and not sinners from the Gentiles,

Knowing that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, we also have believed in Christ Jesus so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no flesh will be justified.

If, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves are found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Absolutely not.

For if I rebuild what I destroyed, I prove myself a transgressor.

For I through the law died to the law so that I might live to God; I have been crucified with Christ.

I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

I do not nullify the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.
