The Koine Bible

Now there was a man from the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.

This one came to him by night and said to him, Rabbi, we know that you have come from God as a teacher, for no one is able to do these signs that you do unless God is with him.

Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly I say to you, unless someone is born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Nicodemus says to him, How can a person be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?

Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Do not be amazed that I said to you, You must be born from above.

The spirit blows where it wants, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the spirit.

Nicodemus answered and said to him, How can these things happen?

Jesus answered and said to him, You are the teacher of Israel, and you do not know these things?

Truly, truly I say to you, what we know we speak, and what we have seen we testify, and you do not receive our testimony.

If I have spoken to you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I speak to you about heavenly things?

And no one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.

And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

For God loved the world in this way: he gave the only-begotten Son, so that everyone believing in him should not perish but have eternal life.

For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through him.

The one believing in him is not judged; but the one not believing has already been judged, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.

This is the judgment: that the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their works were evil.

For everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, so that his works may not be exposed.

But the one who does the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be revealed as having been done in God.

After these things Jesus came with his disciples into the land of Judea, and there he spent time with them and was baptizing.

Now John was also baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there, and people were coming and being baptized.

For John had not yet been thrown into prison.

Now there was a dispute between the disciples of John and a Jew about purification.

And they came to John and said to him, Rabbi, the one who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you testified, look, he is baptizing, and all are coming to him.

John answered and said, No one can receive even one thing unless it has been given to him from heaven.

You yourselves testify that I said, I am not the Messiah, but that I am sent ahead of him.

The one who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices with joy because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore, this joy of mine is fulfilled.

He must increase, but I must decrease.

The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is from the earth is from the earth and speaks from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all.

What he has seen and heard, this he testifies, and no one receives his testimony.

The one who has received his testimony has confirmed that God is true.

For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he does not give the Spirit by measure.

The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand.

The one believing in the Son has eternal life; but the one disobeying the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
