They will make you outcasts from the synagogue; but the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will offer worship to God in glory.
And they will do these things because they did not know the Father nor me.
But I have spoken these things to you so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you. But I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.
But now I am going to the one who sent me, and none of you asks me, Where are you going?
But because I have spoken these things to you, your sorrow has been filled.
But I am telling you the truth, it is beneficial for you that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and concerning righteousness and concerning judgment.
Concerning sin, because they do not believe in me.
But concerning righteousness, because I am going to the Father, you no longer see me.
Concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
I still have many things to say to you, but you are not able to bear them now.
But when he comes, the Spirit of the truth, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things to come.
He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I said that he takes from what is mine and will declare it to you.
A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me.
εἶπαν οὖν ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ πρὸς ἀλλήλους· Τί ἐστιν τοῦτο ὃ λέγει ἡμῖν· Μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με; καί· Ὅτι ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πατέρα;
Therefore some of his disciples said to one another, What is this that he says to us, A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me? And, Because I am going to the Father?
Therefore they were saying, What is this that he says, A little while? We do not know what he is talking about.
ἔγνω Ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἤθελον αὐτὸν ἐρωτᾶν, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Περὶ τούτου ζητεῖτε μετ' ἀλλήλων ὅτι εἶπον· Μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με;
Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, Are you seeking one another about this because I said, A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me?
Truly, truly I say to you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will be grieved, but your grief will become joy.
When a woman gives birth, she has pain because her hour has come; but when she has born the child, she no longer remembers the distress because of the joy that a person was born into the world.
And you therefore now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
And on that day you will ask me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything, he will give it to you in my name.
Until now you have not asked for anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.
I have spoken these things to you in parables; the hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in parables but will declare to you openly about the Father.
On that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf.
For the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.
I came out from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father.
His disciples say, Now you speak openly, and you say no proverb.
Now we know that you know all things and do not need anyone to ask you; in this we believe that you came from God.
Jesus answered them, Do you now believe?
Behold, the hour is coming and has come for you to be scattered, each to his own, and to leave me alone; yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
I have spoken these things to you so that you may have peace in me. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.
