Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came early, while it was still dark, to the tomb, and she saw the stone taken away from the tomb.

So she runs and comes to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and says to them, They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.

So Peter went out along with the other disciple, and they were coming to the tomb.

The two were running together, and the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived first at the tomb,

And bending down, he sees the linen cloths lying there, but he did not enter.

Then Simon Peter also came, following him, and entered into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there,

And the cloth that had been on his head was not lying with the linen cloths but was folded up separately in one place.

Then the other disciple also entered, the one who had come first to the tomb, and he saw and believed.

For they did not yet understand the Scripture that he must rise from the dead.

Then the disciples went back to themselves again.

But Mary stood outside the tomb weeping. So, as she wept, she bent over into the tomb,

And she sees two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been laid.

And they say to her, Woman, why are you weeping? She says to them, They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.

Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus.

Jesus says to her, Woman, why are you crying? Whom are you seeking? Supposing him to be the gardener, she says to him, Lord, if you carried him away, tell me where you laid him, and I will take him.

Jesus said to her, Mary. She turned around and said to him in Hebrew, Rabboni (which means Teacher).

Jesus said to her, Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father

Mary Magdalene came, announcing to the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that he had said these things to her.

On that day, the first of the Sabbaths, when evening had come, and the doors were locked where the disciples were because of the fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst and said to them, Peace to you.

And having said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Therefore the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

Jesus therefore said to them again, Peace to you. As the Father has sent me, I also send you.

And having said this, he breathed on them and says to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.

If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven to them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.

Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came.

Therefore the other disciples said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails and put my finger into the mark of the nails and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.

And after eight days, the disciples were again inside, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace to you.

Then he says to Thomas, Bring your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving but believing.

Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God.

Jesus said to him, Because you have seen me, you have believed? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.

Therefore Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book.

But these things have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
