And the tempter came and said to him, If you are the Son of God, say that these stones become bread.
But he answered, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word going out through the mouth of God.
Then the devil took him into the holy city and set him on the wing of the temple,
And he said to him, If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written, He will command his angels concerning you, and on their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
Jesus said to him, It is also written, You shall not test the Lord your God.
Again the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
And he said to him, I will give you all these things, if you fall down and worship me.
Then Jesus said to him, Go away, Satan, for it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God and him alone you shall serve.
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.
Now when he heard that John had been handed over, he withdrew into Galilee.
And leaving Nazareth, he came and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali.
so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying,
Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, by the sea road, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations,
The people sitting in darkness have seen a great light, and for those sitting in the land and shadow of death, a light has dawned on them.
From that time Jesus began to proclaim and say, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has come near.
While walking beside the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
And he says to them, Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.
And they immediately, leaving the nets, followed him.
And leaving there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, mending their nets in the boat with Zebedee their father, and he called them.
And they immediately, leaving the boat and their father, followed him.
And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
And his fame went out into all Syria, and they brought to him all who were suffering, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those possessed by demons, those suffering from epilepsy, and paralytics, and he healed them.
And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and beyond the Jordan.
