And Jesus answered and again spoke to them in parables, saying,

The kingdom of the heavens was likened to a man, a king, who made a wedding for his son.

And he sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding, and they were not willing to come.

Again he sent other servants, saying, Tell those invited, Behold, my banquet is prepared, my bulls and fattened cattle are slaughtered, and everything is ready; come to the wedding.

But those who were negligent went away, one to his own field, and another to his business.

But the rest, having seized his servants, insulted and killed them.

But the king became angry, and sending his armies, he destroyed those murderers and burned their city.

Then he says to his servants, The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.

Go therefore to the highways' exits, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.

And the servants went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good; and the wedding was filled with those reclining.

But when the king entered to look at the guests, he saw there a man not wearing a wedding garment.

And he said to him, Friend, how did you enter here without having a wedding garment? And he was silent.

Then the king said to the attendants, Bind his feet and hands and cast him into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and the gnashing of teeth there.

For many are called, but few are chosen.

Then the Pharisees went and took counsel on how to trap him in speech.

And they send to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God in truth, and you do not care about anyone, for you do not look at the face of men.

Tell us, then, what do you think? Is it lawful to give a census tax to Caesar or not?

But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why do you test me, hypocrites?

Show me the coin used for the tax. And they brought him a denarius.

And he said to them, Whose image is this and the inscription?

They say to him, Caesar’s. Then he says to them, Therefore give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.

And when they heard it, they were amazed, and leaving him, they went away.

On that day the Sadducees came to him, saying that there is no resurrection, and they questioned him.

Saying, Teacher, Moses said, If someone dies without having children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.

There were seven brothers with us. The first married and died, and having no offspring, he left his wife to his brother.

Likewise the second and the third, up to the seven.

But after all of them, the woman died.

In the resurrection, then, whose wife of the seven will she be? For all of them had her.

But Jesus answered them, You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.

For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.

But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying,

I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob; he is not God of the dead but of the living.

And when the crowds heard, they were amazed at his teaching.

But the Pharisees, having heard that he silenced the Sadducees, gathered together.

And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.

Teacher, which commandment is great in the law?

He said to him, You will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

This is the great and first commandment.

And the second is like it: You will love your neighbor as yourself.

On these two commandments hang the whole law and the prophets.

Now when the Pharisees had gathered together, Jesus asked them

saying, What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he? They say to him, The son of David.

He says to them, How then does David call him Lord in the Spirit, saying,

The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet?

If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?

And no one was able to answer him a word, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask him any more questions.
