And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on its horns ten diadems, and on its heads blasphemous names.
And the beast that I saw was like a leopard, and its feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth was like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave to it his power and his throne and great authority.
And one of his heads seemed to have been slain to death, and the stroke of his death was healed. And the whole earth marveled after the beast,
And they worshiped the dragon because he gave authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast, and who is able to make war with it?
And a mouth was given to him speaking great things and blasphemies, and authority was given to him to act for forty-two months.
And he opened his mouth to blaspheme God, to blaspheme his name and his dwelling, those who dwell in heaven.
And it was given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority was given to him over every tribe and people and tongue and nation.
And all who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose name has not been written in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world.
If anyone has ears, let him hear.
If anyone is taken captive, into captivity he goes; if anyone is killed with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. This is the endurance and the faith of the holy ones.
And I saw another beast rising out of the earth, and it had two horns like a lamb, and it spoke like a dragon.
And it exercises all the authority of the first beast before it. And it makes the earth and those who dwell in it worship the first beast, whose death wound was healed.
And he performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people.
And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs that were given to him to perform before the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image of the beast, who has the wound of the sword and lived.
And it was given to him to give spirit to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast also might speak and cause that as many as do not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead,
And so that no one is able to buy or sell except the one having the mark, the name of the beast, or the number of its name.
Here is wisdom: Let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is six hundred sixty-six.
