Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God

which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures

concerning his Son, who was born from the seed of David according to the flesh,

of the Son of God, who was appointed with power according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,

Through whom we received grace and apostleship for obedience of faith among all the nations on behalf of his name,

Among whom you also are called to belong to Jesus Christ,

To all who are in Rome, beloved by God, called to be saints: grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ concerning all of you, because your faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world.

For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that I constantly remember you.

Always in my prayers, asking if somehow at last I may be prospered to come to you according to the will of God.

For I long to see you, so that I may impart to you a spiritual gift to strengthen you,

And this is to encourage one another through your faith and mine in each other.

But I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I have often intended to come to you, and I have been prevented until now, in order that I might have some fruit also among you, just as among the rest of the nations.

To Greeks and to barbarians, to the wise and to the foolish, I am a debtor.

So my eagerness also is to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

For the righteousness of God is revealed in it from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous one will live by faith.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

Because what is known about God is evident within them, for God has revealed it to them.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are understood by the things made, both his eternal power and divinity, so that they are without excuse,

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened.

Claiming to be wise, they became foolish,

and they exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

Therefore God gave them over to the desires of their hearts to impurity, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,

who exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged the natural use for that which is against nature,

Likewise also the males, leaving the natural use of the female, were burned in their desire toward one another, males working shamefulness with males and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error.

And just as they did not approve of having God in knowledge, God gave them over to a worthless mind to do what is not proper,

filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil, full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice, whisperers,

slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,

unintelligent, untrustworthy, without natural affection, merciless;

Who, knowing the righteous requirement of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do them but also approve of those who practice them.
