But when the barbarians saw the beast hanging from his hand, they said to one another, This man is certainly a murderer, whom, though he was saved from the sea, justice does not allow to live.

But they were expecting him to swell up or suddenly fall down dead. After they had waited a long time and saw that nothing unusual was happening to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.

After three days, he arranged to meet with the leading Jews. When they had gathered, he said to them, Men brothers, I have done nothing against the people or against the customs of the ancestors, yet I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans,

When they had arranged a day, more came to him at the lodging, to whom he explained and testified about the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus from both the law of Moses and the prophets, from morning until evening.

For the heart of this people has grown dull, and with their ears they have heard heavily, and they have closed their eyes; lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn back, and I should heal them.
