Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

Therefore, the one who resists the authority appointed by God opposes, and those who oppose will receive judgment for themselves.

For rulers are not a fear to the good work but to the evil. Do you want not to be afraid of the authority? Do the good, and you will have praise from it.

For he is God's servant for your good. But if you do what is wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword without reason. For he is God's servant, an avenger to bring wrath on the one who practices evil.

Therefore it is necessary to submit, not only because of wrath but also because of conscience,

For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are servants of God, attending continually to this very thing.

Give to all what is owed: to the one who tax, tax; to the one who custom, custom; to the one who fear, fear; to the one who honor, honor.

Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

For the commandment, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet, and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this word: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

And knowing the time, that it is already hour for you to wake up from sleep, for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed.

The night has advanced, and the day has come near. Therefore, let us put aside the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Let us walk properly as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not make provision for the flesh in regard to its desires.
