And David was old and full of days, and Solomon his son reigned in his place over Israel.

And he gathered together all the leaders of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites.

And the Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward, and their number by heads came to thirty-eight thousand men

Of these, twenty-four thousand were overseers over the works of the house of the Lord, and six thousand were scribes and judges.

and four thousand gatekeepers and four thousand praising the Lord with the instruments which he made for praising the Lord

And David divided them into divisions, for the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, Merari.

and to Parosom, to Edan, and to Semei

The sons of Heman: Jehiel the chief, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

The sons of Shimei: Shelomith and Jiel and Hadan, three; these were chiefs of the fathers’ houses for Eden.

And to the sons of Shimei: Jahath and Zizah and Jeush and Beriah; these are the sons of Shimei, four.

And Jeith was the ruler, and Ziza the second, and Joash and Beria did not multiply sons, and they became into one ancestral house for oversight.

The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

The sons of Ambram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was set apart for the sanctifying of the most holy things, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before the Lord, to minister and to invoke upon his name forever.

And Moses, a man of God, his sons were reckoned to the tribe of Levi

The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer

The sons of Gersham: Shubael, the chief.

And the sons of Eliezer were Rehabiah the chief, and there were no other sons to Eliezer; and the sons of Rehabiah multiplied to the height

The sons of Izzhar: Shelomoth the chief.

The sons of Hebron: Idud the chief, Aamadia the second, Ozihel the third, Ikemias the fourth.

The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.

The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.

And Eleazar died, and he had no sons, but only daughters; and the sons of Kish, their brothers, took them.

The sons of Musi: Mooli and Eder and Iarimoth, three.

These are the sons of Levi according to the houses of their fathers, chiefs of their fathers’ houses, according to their registration, according to the number of their names, by head, doing the works of the service of the house of the Lord, from twenty years old and upward

For David said, The Lord God of Israel has given rest to his people, and he has dwelt in Jerusalem forever

And the Levites were no longer carrying the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service

For in the last words of David there is the number of the sons of Levi from twenty years old and upward

For he appointed them by the hand of Aaron to minister in the house of the Lord, over the courts and over the storerooms and over the cleansing of all the holy things and over the works of the service of the house of God

for the loaves of the setting out, for the fine flour of the sacrifice, and for the unleavened cakes, and for the pan, and for the mixed dough, and for every measure

and to stand in the morning to praise, to give thanks to the Lord, and likewise in the evening

and over all the burnt offerings that are offered up to the Lord on the sabbaths and on the new moons and on the feasts, according to the number, according to the ordinance concerning them continually, to the Lord

and they shall keep the guard duties of the tent of the testimony and the guard duties of the sons of Aaron their brothers, for ministering in the house of the Lord
