And the Philistines were warring against Israel, and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and the wounded fell on Mount Gilboa.

And the Philistines press close to Saul and to his sons, and the Philistines strike Jonathan and Abinadab and Melchisua, the sons of Saul

And the battle presses hard against Saul, and the spearmen find him, men archers, and he was wounded in the lower abdomen

And Saul said to the one carrying his gear, Draw your sword and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised men come and thrust me through and mock me. But the one carrying his gear was not willing, for he feared greatly. And Saul took the sword and fell upon it.

And when his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword and died with him.

And Saul died, and his three sons, and the one carrying his weapons, on that day together.

And the men of Israel who were beyond the valley and those who were beyond the Jordan saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, and they abandoned their cities and fled, and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

And it came to pass on the next day that the Philistines came to strip the dead, and they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.

And they turned him back and stripped off his armor, and they sent it into the land of the Philistines all around, proclaiming good news to their idols and to their people.

And they put his weapons in the temple of Astarte, and they fastened his body in the wall of Bethshan

And the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead heard what the Philistines did to Saul.

And every man of valor arose and went all night, and they took the body of Saul and the body of Jonathan his son from the wall of Beth-shan, and they bring them to Jabesh and burn them there

And they take their bones and bury them under the tamarisk tree of Jabesh, and they fast seven days
