Then Solomon said, The Lord said that he would dwell in thick darkness.

And I have built a house for your holy name, for you, and prepared for you to dwell forever.

And the king turned his face and blessed all the assembly of Israel, and all the assembly of Israel was standing by

and he said, Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, who spoke by his mouth to David my father, and by his hand he fulfilled, saying

Since the day when I brought my people up out of the land of Egypt, I did not choose a city from among all the tribes of Israel to build a house for my name to be there, and I did not choose a man to be ruler over my people Israel

and I chose Jerusalem for my name to be there, and I chose David so as to be over my people Israel

And it came into the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the Lord God of Israel.

And the Lord said to David my father, Because it came upon your heart to build a house for my name, you did well, because it came upon your heart.

Only you shall not build the house, for your son who will come out from your loins, he shall build the house for my name

And the Lord has fulfilled his word which he spoke, and I have become in place of David my father, and I have sat on the throne of Israel, just as the Lord spoke, and I have built the house for the name of the Lord, God of Israel.

And I put there the ark, in which there is there the covenant of the Lord, which he made with Israel.

And he stood before the altar of the Lord, in front of all the assembly of Israel, and he spread out his hands.

For Solomon made a bronze platform and set it in the middle of the court of the sanctuary, five cubits its length and five cubits its breadth and three cubits its height, and he stood on it and fell on his knees before all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hands to heaven

And he said, O Lord God of Israel, there is no one like you, God, in heaven and on the earth, keeping the covenant and the mercy to your servants who walk before you with all heart.

which you kept for your servant David my father, which you spoke to him, saying, and you spoke with your mouth and with your hands you fulfilled, as this day is

And now, O Lord God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father what you spoke to him, saying, There shall not fail you a man from before me sitting on the throne of Israel, only if your sons keep their way, to walk in my law as you walked before me.

And now, Lord God of Israel, let your word, which you spoke to your servant David, indeed be confirmed.

For truly will God dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heaven does not suffice for you, and what is this house that I have built?

and may you look upon the prayer of your servant and upon my supplication, O Lord the God, to hear the supplication and the prayer which your servant is praying before you today

for your eyes to be open toward this house day and night, toward this place of which you said that your name would be called there, to hear the prayer which your servant prays toward this place

and may you hear the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel, whatever they may pray toward this place, and may you hear in the place of your dwelling from heaven, and may you hear and be merciful

If a man sins against his neighbor and takes an oath upon him to make him swear, and he comes and swears before the altar in this house

and you will hear from heaven and you will do and you will judge your servants, to repay the lawless one and to repay his ways on his head, to justify the righteous one, to repay him according to his righteousness

And if your people Israel is broken before the enemy, if they sin against you and turn back and confess to your name and pray and make supplication before you in this house

and you will hear from the heaven and will be merciful to the sins of your people Israel and you will restore them to the land which you gave to them and to their fathers

When the heaven is shut up and there is no rain, because they will sin against you, and they will pray toward this place and will praise your name and will turn back from their sins, because you will humble them

and you shall hear from heaven and be merciful to the sins of your children and of your people Israel, because you will show to them the good way in which they shall walk in it, and you shall give rain on your land which you gave to your people as an inheritance

famine, if there is upon the land, death, if there is blight and jaundice, locust and cankerworm, if there is, if the enemy afflicts him before their cities, with every plague and every pain

and every prayer and every supplication that may arise in any man and in all your people Israel, if a man knows his affliction and his illness and stretches out his hands toward this house

and you shall hear from heaven, from your ready dwelling place, and you shall atone, and you shall give to a man according to his ways, as you may know his heart, because you alone know the heart of the sons of men

so that they may fear all your ways all the days which they live upon the face of the land which you gave to our fathers

And every foreigner who is not of your people Israel, himself, and comes from a distant land for the sake of your great name and your mighty hand and your exalted arm, and they come and pray toward this place

and you shall hear from heaven, from your prepared dwelling place, and you shall do according to all whatever the stranger shall call upon you for, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and to fear you as your people Israel and to know that your name has been called upon this house which I have built

And if your people go out to war against their enemies by the way on which you will send them, and they pray toward you by the way of this city which you chose for yourself, and of the house which I built for your name

and you will hear from heaven their supplication and their prayer, and you will do their right judgment

for they will sin against you, for there is no man who will not sin, and you will strike them and give them over before their enemies, and those who take them captive will carry them away captive to the land of their enemies, far or near

and they turn back their heart in their land where they were carried there away captive, and they turn back and pray to you in their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have acted unjustly, we have acted lawlessly

and they turn back to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of those who took them captive, and pray toward the way of their land which you gave to their fathers and of the city which you chose and of the house which I built for your name

then hear from heaven, from your prepared dwelling place, their prayer and their supplication, and do judgments, and be merciful to your people who have sinned against you

Now, O Lord, let your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayer of this place.

And now arise, O Lord God, into your resting place, you and the ark of your strength; let your priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation, and let your sons rejoice in good things.

O Lord God, do not turn away the face of your anointed; remember the mercies of David your servant.
