And Rehoboam came to Jerusalem and gathered Judah and Benjamin, one hundred eighty thousand young men making war, and he made war against Israel to turn back the kingdom to Rehoboam.
Thus says the Lord: You shall not go up, and you shall not fight against your brothers. Return, each one, to his house, for this matter has come from me. And they listened to the word of the Lord and turned back from going against Jeroboam.
For the Levites had left the settlements of their possession and went to Judah, to Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons had cast them out, so that they would not minister to the Lord.
And he cast them out from the tribes of Israel, those who gave their heart to seek the Lord God of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the Lord God of their fathers.
And they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and strengthened Rehoboam the son of Solomon for three years, because he walked in the ways of David and Solomon for three years.
And Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom more than all his wives and his concubines, for he had eighteen wives and thirty concubines, and he begot twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
And he grew greater than all his sons in all the borders of Judah and Benjamin and in the fortified cities, and he gave them abundant provisions in great quantity, and he requested a multitude of wives
