And in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself and took the captains of hundreds: Azariah son of Joram, and Ishmael son of Johanan, and Azariah son of Obed, and Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zechariah with him into the house
And they went around Judah and gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah, and the chiefs of the families of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.
And all the assembly of Judah made a covenant in the house of God with the king, and he showed them the king’s son, and said to them, Behold, the king’s son: let him reign, just as the Lord spoke concerning the house of David.
Now this is the thing that you shall do: a third of you, of the priests and of the Levites, shall enter on the sabbath, and into the gates of the entrances.
And let no one enter into the house of the Lord except the priests and the Levites and those ministering of the Levites; they themselves shall enter, because they are holy; and let all the people keep the watches of the Lord.
And the Levites shall surround the king all around, each man with his weapon in his hand; and the one entering into the house shall die; and they shall be with the king as he goes in and as he goes out.
And the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded, and each took his men from the beginning of the sabbath to the going out of the sabbath, because Jehoiada did not dismiss the divisions.
And he stationed all the people, each one with his weapons, from the shoulder of the house on the right side as far as the shoulder of the house on the left side, of the altar and of the house, around the king.
And they brought out the son of the king and put the kingdom and the testimonies upon him, and they made him king and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and they said, Let the king live.
And she saw, and behold, the king was on his stand, and at the entrance the rulers and the trumpets around the king, and all the people rejoiced and sounded with the trumpets, and those singing with the instruments of song and praising with praise; and Athaliah tore her robe and cried out and said, Conspiring, conspire!
And Jehoiada the priest went out, and Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds and the chiefs of the force, and he said to them, Put her out outside the house, and go in after her, and let her die by the sword, for the priest said, Let her not die in the house of the Lord.
And all the people of the land entered into the house of Baal and tore it down, and his altars and his images they smashed in pieces, and Mattan the priest of Baal they put to death before his altars
And Jehoiada the priest entrusted the works of the house of the Lord by the hand of the priests and the Levites, and he established the divisions of the priests and of the Levites that David had appointed over the house of the Lord, and to offer burnt offerings to the Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses, with gladness and with songs, by the hand of David.
And he took the patriarchs and the mighty men and the rulers of the people and all the people of the land, and they brought the king up into the house of the Lord, and he entered by the inner gate into the house of the king, and they seated the king upon the throne of the kingdom.
