Ahaz was a son of twenty years when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and he did not do what was right before the Lord, as David his father.

And he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and indeed he made carved images for their idols.

And he sacrificed in Geibenenom and made his sons pass through the fire according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord destroyed from before the face of the sons of Israel

and he sacrificed on the high places and on the roofs and under every leafy tree

And the Lord his God gave him into the hand of the king of Syria, and he struck him, and took captive from them a great captivity, and brought it to Damascus; for also into the hands of the king of Israel he gave him, and he struck him with a great blow.

And Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel, killed in Judah in one day one hundred twenty thousand strong men in might, when they had forsaken the Lord, the God of their fathers.

And Ezri the mighty man of Ephraim killed Maaseiah the son of the king and Ezkam the leader of his house and Elkanah the successor of the king

And the sons of Israel took captive from their brothers three hundred thousand women, sons and daughters, and they plundered many spoils from them, and they brought the spoils to Samaria

And there was there the prophet of the Lord, Oded was his name, and he went out to meet the army of those coming into Samaria, and he said to them, Behold, the wrath of the Lord, the God of your fathers, is against Judah, and he has given them into your hands, and you killed among them in anger that which reached up to the heavens.

And now you say that you will take captive the sons of Judah and Jerusalem as male slaves and female slaves; behold, am I not with you to bear witness before the Lord your God?

And now hear me, and return the captivity that you have taken captive of your brothers, for the wrath of the anger of the Lord is upon you

And the leaders from the sons of Ephraim rose up: Udia the son of Ioanu, and Barachias the son of Mosolamoth, and Hezekias the son of Sellim, and Amasias the son of Chodli, against those coming from the war.

And they said to them, You shall not bring the captivity here to us, because for us to sin against the Lord you are saying to add to our sins and to our ignorance, for our sin is great, and wrath of the Lord’s anger is upon Israel.

And the warriors left the captives and the spoils before the officials and all the assembly

And men stood up who were named by name, and they took hold of the captivity, and all the naked they clothed from the spoil, and they dressed them and put sandals on them, and gave them to eat and to anoint themselves, and they carried on beasts of burden every one who was weak, and they brought them to Jericho, the city of palms, to their brothers, and they returned to Samaria.

At that time Ahaz sent to the king of Assyria to help him

And in this, because the Idumeans had attacked and struck in Judah and had taken captive captives.

And the Philistines fell upon the cities of the lowland and from the south of Judah, and they took Beth-shemesh and Aijalon and Gederoth and Soco and its villages and Timnah and its villages and Gimzo and its villages, and they settled there

For the Lord humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Judah, because he had rebelled with rebellion from the Lord.

And Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria came against him and struck him

And Ahaz took the things in the house of the Lord and the things in the house of the king and of the rulers and gave them to the king of Assyria, and it was not for help to him

but only by his being oppressed did he add to rebel from the Lord. And the king said

I will seek the gods of Damascus who were striking me, and he said, Because the gods of the king of Syria will strengthen them; therefore I will sacrifice to them, and they will help me. And they became to him a stumbling block and to all Israel.

And Ahaz removed the vessels of the house of the Lord and cut them in pieces, and he shut the doors of the house of the Lord, and he made for himself altars in every corner in Jerusalem.

And in every city and city in Judah he made high places to burn incense to foreign gods, and they provoked the Lord, the God of their fathers, to anger.

And the rest of his words and his deeds, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David, because they did not bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
