The Koine Bible

Joash was seven years old when he began to reign.

In the seventh year of Jehu, Joash reigned, and forty years he reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother was Abia, from Beersheba.

And Joash did what was right before the Lord all the days that Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

Nevertheless the high places were not removed, and there still the people sacrificed and burned incense on the high places

And Joash said to the priests, All the silver of the holy things, the silver that is brought in to the house of the Lord, silver of valuation, the silver of each man, silver received of valuation, all the silver that may come up on a man’s heart to bring into the house of the Lord.

Let the priests take for themselves each man from his sale, and they themselves shall keep the repair of the house in everything wherein any breach is found there.

And it came to pass in the twenty-third year to king Joash that the priests had not strengthened the breach of the house.

And Joash the king called Jehoiada the priest and the priests and said to them, Why is it that you were not strengthening the breach of the house? And now do not take silver from your sales, because you shall give it for the breach of the house.

And the priests agreed not to take silver from the people and not to strengthen the breaches of the house.

And Jehoiada the priest took one chest and bored a hole in its lid and set it beside Jamin in the house of the man of the house of the Lord, and the priests, the keepers of the threshold, gave all the silver that was found in the house of the Lord.

And it happened, when they saw that the silver was much in the chest, that the scribe of the king and the great priest went up and bound up and counted the silver found in the house of the Lord.

And they gave the silver that had been prepared into the hands of the doers of the work, the overseers of the house of the Lord, and they gave it out to the carpenters of the wood and to the builders who were working in the house of the Lord.

and to the masons and to the stonecutters for buying wood and quarried stones to repair the breach of the house of the Lord, for all that was spent on the house to strengthen it

However, there shall not be made for the house of the Lord silver doors, nails, bowls, and trumpets, any golden vessel and silver vessel, from the silver that was brought into the house of the Lord

because they will give it to those doing the work, and they strengthened the house of the Lord with it

And they did not reckon with the men to whom they gave the silver into their hands to give to the workers, because they did it in faithfulness.

The money for sin and the money for offense, whatever was brought into the house of the Lord, belonged to the priests.

Then Hazael king of Syria went up and fought against Gath and took it, and Hazael set his face to go up against Jerusalem

And Joash king of Judah took all the holy things that Jehoshaphat and Joram and Ahaziah, his fathers, and the kings of Judah had consecrated, and his holy things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the Lord and of the house of the king, and he sent to Hazael king of Syria; and he went up from Jerusalem.

And the rest of the words of Joash and all that he did, behold, are not these written on the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

And his servants rose up and bound every conspiracy, and struck Joash in the house of Mallo, the one in Gaalla.

And Jezichar son of Jemuath and Jezebuth his son, Somer, his servants, struck him, and he died, and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David, and Amaziah his son reigned in his place.
