In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, and Amaziah son of Joash became king, king of Judah.

He was a son of twenty-five years when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Joadin, from Jerusalem.

And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, except not as David his father; according to all that Joash his father had done, he did.

Only the high places he did not remove; still the people were sacrificing and burning incense on the high places.

And it came to pass, when the kingdom was strengthened in his hand, that he struck his servants who had struck his father

And the sons of the slayers he did not put to death, according as it has been written in the book of the law of Moses, as the Lord commanded, saying, Fathers shall not die for sons, and sons shall not die for fathers; but each shall die in his own sins.

He struck Edom in Gei-Mele ten thousand and captured the rock in the war and called its name Cathoel to this day

Then Amasias sent messengers to Joash son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us face one another.

And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thorn-bush that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son as a wife; and the wild beasts of the field that were in Lebanon passed through and trampled the thorn-bush.

You have indeed struck Edom, and your heart has lifted you up; be glorified, sitting in your house; and why do you provoke in your evil, that you should fall, you and Judah with you?

And Amasias did not listen, and the king of Israel went up, and he appeared face to face, he and Amasias king of Judah, in Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Judah

And Judah was struck down before Israel, and each man fled to his tent.

And Amaziah son of Joash son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Joash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, seized at Beth-shemesh, and he came to Jerusalem and broke down in the wall of Jerusalem at the gate of Ephraim as far as the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

And he took the gold and the silver and all the vessels found in the house of the Lord and in the treasuries of the house of the king and the sons of the alliances, and he returned to Samaria.

And the rest of the words of Joash, as many as he did in his might, which he fought with against Amasias king of Judah, are not these written in the book of the words of the days for the kings of Israel?

And Joash slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel, and Jeroboam his son reigned in his place.

And Amaziah son of Joash, king of Judah, lived after Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, died fifteen years.

And the rest of the words of Amasias and all that he did, are not these written on the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah?

And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish, and they sent after him to Lachish, and they put him to death there.

And they carried him on horses, and he was buried in Jerusalem with his fathers, in the city of David.

And all the people of Judah took Azariah, and he was a son of sixteen years, and they made him king instead of his father Amasiah.

He himself built Elath and restored it to Judah after the king had slept with his fathers

In the fifteenth year of Amasias son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam son of Joash reigned over Israel in Samaria forty and one years.

And he did what was evil before the Lord; he did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam son of Nabat, who made Israel sin.

He restored the boundary of Israel from the entrance of Hamath as far as the sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the Lord, the God of Israel, which he spoke by the hand of his servant Jonah son of Amathi, the prophet from Gath-hepher.

For the Lord saw the very bitter affliction of Israel, and that they were few, hemmed in and reduced and forsaken, and there was no one helping Israel

And the Lord did not speak to blot out the seed of Israel from under heaven, and he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Joash

And the rest of the words of Jeroboam and all that he did and his mighty deeds, how many things he fought and how he restored Damascus and Hamath to Judah in Israel, are not these written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, with the kings of Israel, and Azariah son of Amasiah reigned in his stead, in place of his father.
