And it came to pass when the king sat in his house, and the Lord had given him rest round about from all his enemies round about.

And the king said to Nathan the prophet, Behold now, I dwell in a cedar house, and the ark of God sits in the midst of the tent

And Nathan said to the king, All that is in your heart, go and do, because the Lord is with you.

And it came to pass in that night, and the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying:

Go and say to my servant David, Thus says the Lord: you shall not build me a house for me to dwell in.

For I have not dwelt in a house from the day when I brought up the sons of Israel out of Egypt until this day, but I was walking about in a lodging and in a tent.

In all that I went through in all Israel, did I ever speak, speaking, to one tribe of Israel, to whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, saying, Why is it that you have not built for me a house of cedar?

And now thus you shall say to my servant David, Thus says the Lord Almighty: I took you from the sheepfold, from your being to be leader over my people, over Israel.

and I was with you in all that you went, and I destroyed all your enemies from before you, and I made you renowned according to the name of the great ones who are on the earth

And I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant him, and he shall dwell by himself and shall no longer be anxious, and the son of injustice shall no longer continue to humble him, as from the beginning

from the days when I appointed judges over my people Israel, and I will give you rest from all your enemies, and the Lord will tell you that you shall build a house for him

And it shall be, when your days are fulfilled and you sleep with your fathers, then I will raise up your offspring after you, who will be from your womb, and I will prepare his kingdom

He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish his throne forever.

I will be to him for a father, and he himself will be to me for a son; and if his iniquity comes, I will reprove him with a rod of men and with touches of sons of men.

But my mercy I will not take away from him, as I took it away from those from whom I took it away from before my face

And his house shall be made sure and his kingdom forever before me, and his throne shall be established forever.

According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David

And King David entered and sat before the Lord and said, Who am I, my lord, Lord, and what is my house, that you have loved me as far as these things?

And this was made small for a little before you, my lord, Lord, and you spoke concerning the house of your servant for a long time; and this is the law of the man, my lord, Lord.

And what will David add still to speak to you? And now you know your servant, my lord, Lord.

Because of your word you have done, and according to your heart you have done all this greatness, to make known to your servant.

Because of your greatness, my Lord, Lord, for there is none like you, and there is no God besides you in all things that we have heard with our ears

And who is like your people Israel, one other nation on the earth, whom God led to redeem for himself a people, to make for yourself a name, to do greatness and manifestation, to drive out for yourself from before your people, whom you redeemed for yourself out of Egypt, nations and tents?

And you prepared for yourself your people Israel, a people forever; and you, O Lord, became to them for God.

And now, O my Lord, Lord, establish the word that you spoke concerning your servant and concerning his house forever, O Lord Almighty, God of Israel; and now, according as you spoke

May your name be magnified forever.

Lord Almighty, God of Israel, you have opened the ear of your servant, saying, I will build you a house; therefore your servant has found his heart to pray this prayer to you.

And now, Lord my Lord, you are God, and your words will be true, and you have spoken these good things concerning your servant.

And now begin and bless the house of your servant to be forever before you, for you are, my Lord, Lord, you have spoken, and from your blessing the house of your servant shall be blessed forever
