The virgin of Israel has fallen; no more will she rise. She has been cast down upon her land; there is no one to raise her up.
For thus says the Lord, Lord: The city from which a thousand used to go out shall be left with a hundred, and from which a hundred used to go out shall be left with ten, for the house of Israel.
For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: Seek me, and you shall live.
And do not seek Bethel, and do not enter into Gilgal, and do not cross over to the well of the oath, for Gilgal shall be led away captive, and Bethel shall be as if not existing.
Seek the Lord and live, so that the house of Joseph may not blaze up like fire, and it will consume it, and there will be no one to quench it for the house of Israel.
the Lord, the one who makes justice and righteousness high, has put them down to the earth
who makes all things and alters and turns into the morning shadow of death and day into night, darkening, who calls the water of the sea and pours it out upon the face of the earth, the Lord God the Almighty, his name is
the one who brings destruction upon strength and who brings distress upon a fortress
They hated one who reproves in the gates, and they abhorred a holy word.
Therefore, because you were beating down the poor and took choice gifts from them, you built hewn houses, and you shall not dwell in them; you planted desirable vineyards, and you shall not drink the wine from them.
For I know your many acts of ungodliness, and your sins are mighty: trampling the righteous, taking bribes, and turning aside the poor in the gates.
Therefore the prudent man at that time shall keep silence, because it is an evil time.
Seek the good and not the evil, so that you may live; and thus the Lord God Almighty will be with you, as you said.
We have hated the evil things and loved the good things, and establish justice in the gates, so that the Lord God the Almighty may have mercy on the remnant of Joseph
Therefore thus says the Lord God Almighty: in all the broad places there shall be lamentation, and in all the roads they shall say, Alas, alas; the farmer shall be called to mourning and to lamentation, and to those who know lamentation.
And in all ways there shall be lamentation, because I will pass through in your midst, said the Lord
Woe to those who desire the day of the Lord. Why is this day of the Lord to you? And it is darkness and not light.
as when a man flees from before the lion, and the bear meets him, and he goes into his house and leans his hands on the wall, and the serpent bites him
Is not the day of the Lord darkness and not light, and gloom having no brightness in it?
I have hated, I have rejected your feasts, and I will surely not smell in your solemn assemblies.
For even if you bring me your whole burnt offerings and your sacrifices, I will not accept them, and I will not look upon your peace offerings of your appearances.
Take away from me the sound of your songs, and the melody of your instruments I will not hear.
But let justice roll on like water, and righteousness like an impassable torrent.
Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
And you took up the tent of Moloch and the star of your god Rephan, their images that you made for yourselves
and I will carry you away beyond Damascus, says the Lord God Almighty, his name is the same
