In the first year of Belshazzar king of the Chaldeans, Daniel saw a dream, and the visions of his head upon his bed, and he wrote the dream.

I, Daniel, was beholding in my vision of the night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were striking against the great sea.

and four great beasts were coming up from the sea, differing from one another

The first was like a lioness, and it had wings like an eagle; I was watching until its wings were plucked out, and it was lifted up from the ground and was made to stand on human feet, and a human heart was given to it

and behold, a second beast, like a bear, and it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth; and thus they were saying to it: Rise, eat many flesh

After this I was beholding, and behold, another beast like a leopard, and to it four wings of a bird above it, and the beast had four heads, and authority was given to it

After this I kept looking, and behold, a fourth beast, fearful and exceedingly terrifying and very strong, and its teeth were large iron ones; it was eating and crushing, and the remainder it trampled with its feet; and it was different exceedingly from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.

I was considering its horns, and behold, another little horn came up among them, and three of the former horns were uprooted from before it, and behold, eyes like the eyes of a man in this horn, and a mouth speaking great things

I kept looking until thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days sat, and his garment was as white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was a flame of fire, its wheels burning fire.

A river of fire was drawn forth before him; a thousand thousands were ministering to him, and myriads of myriads were standing beside him; a court sat, and books were opened.

I was watching then because of the sound of the great words which that horn was speaking, until the beast was taken away and destroyed, and its body was given over to burning of fire

And the dominion of the rest of the beasts was taken away, and length of life was given to them until a time and a time

I was beholding in a night vision, and behold, with the clouds of heaven one like a son of man was coming, and he came as far as the Ancient of Days, and before him he was brought near

And to him was given the rule and the honor and the kingdom, and all the peoples, tribes, tongues shall serve him; his authority is an eternal authority, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not be destroyed.

My spirit was shuddering within me, I Daniel, and the visions of my head were troubling me

And I came near to one of those standing, and I was seeking the exactness from him concerning all these things; and he said to me the exactness and the interpretation of the words he made known to me.

These great beasts, the four, are four kingdoms; they will arise upon the earth, which will be taken away.

And the holy ones of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and they shall possess it forever and ever.

And I was seeking carefully about the fourth beast, because it was different from every beast, exceedingly terrifying, its teeth were iron and its claws bronze, eating and crushing, and the remainder it trampled with its feet

and concerning its ten horns, the ones in its head, and the other one that came up and struck out three horns before it, that one which had eyes and a mouth speaking great things, and its appearance greater than the rest

I was beholding, and that horn was making war with the holy ones and prevailed against them

until the Ancient of Days came, and he gave the judgment to the holy ones of the Most High, and the time came, and the holy ones possessed the kingdom

And he said, The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which shall surpass all the kingdoms, and shall devour all the earth, and shall trample it and crush it

And his ten horns: ten kings shall arise, and after them another shall arise, who shall surpass all the former ones in evils, and he shall humble three kings.

And he will speak words against the Most High, and he will wear out the holy ones of the Most High, and he will intend to change times and law, and they will be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time

And the court shall sit, and they shall remove the dominion, to destroy and to perish until the end

And the kingdom and the authority and the greatness of the kings under all the heaven were given to the holy ones of the Most High, and his kingdom is an eternal kingdom, and all the rulerships shall serve and obey him.

Thus far is the end of the word. I, Daniel, for a long time my thoughts were troubling me, and my form was changed upon me, and I kept the word in my heart.
