In the third year of the reign of King Baltasar, a vision appeared to me, I, Daniel, after the one first having appeared to me.

And I was in Susa the fortress, which is in the land of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the Ulai.
ἦρα τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς μου καὶ εἶδον καὶ ἰδοὺ κριὸς εἷς ἑστηκὼς πρὸ τοῦ Ουβαλ καὶ αὐτῷ κέρατα καὶ τὰ κέρατα ὑψηλά καὶ τὸ ἓν ὑψηλότερον τοῦ ἑτέρου καὶ τὸ ὑψηλὸν ἀνέβαινεν ἐπ᾿ ἐσχάτων
And I lifted up my eyes and I saw, and behold, one ram standing before the Ulai, and to it horns; and the horns were high, and the one was higher than the other, and the high one was coming up last
τὸν κριὸν κερατίζοντα κατὰ θάλασσαν καὶ βορρᾶν καὶ νότον καὶ πάντα τὰ θηρία οὐ στήσονται ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὁ ἐξαιρούμενος ἐκ χειρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐποίησεν κατὰ τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐμεγαλύνθη
I saw the ram butting toward the west and north and south, and all the beasts did not stand before him, and there was no one rescuing out of his hand; and he acted according to his will, and he magnified himself.
ἐγὼ ἤμην συνίων καὶ ἰδοὺ τράγος αἰγῶν ἤρχετο ἀπὸ λιβὸς ἐπὶ πρόσωπον πάσης τῆς γῆς καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἁπτόμενος τῆς γῆς καὶ τῷ τράγῳ κέρας θεωρητὸν ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτοῦ
And I was understanding, and behold, a male goat was coming from the west over the face of all the earth, and he was not touching the earth; and to the male goat was a conspicuous horn between his eyes.
ἦλθεν ἕως τοῦ κριοῦ τοῦ τὰ κέρατα ἔχοντος οὗ εἶδον ἑστῶτος ἐνώπιον τοῦ Ουβαλ καὶ ἔδραμεν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐν ὁρμῇ τῆς ἰσχύος αὐτοῦ
And he came as far as the ram that had the horns, which I saw standing before the Ulbal, and he ran toward it in the fury of his strength
εἶδον αὐτὸν φθάνοντα ἕως τοῦ κριοῦ καὶ ἐξηγριάνθη πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ ἔπαισεν τὸν κριὸν καὶ συνέτριψεν ἀμφότερα τὰ κέρατα αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἰσχὺς τῷ κριῷ τοῦ στῆναι ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔρριψεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ συνεπάτησεν αὐτόν καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὁ ἐξαιρούμενος τὸν κριὸν ἐκ χειρὸς αὐτοῦ
And I saw him coming up to the ram, and he was enraged against him and struck the ram and shattered both his horns, and there was no strength in the ram to stand before him; and he threw him to the ground and trampled him, and there was no one rescuing the ram from his hand.
ὁ τράγος τῶν αἰγῶν ἐμεγαλύνθη ἕως σφόδρα καὶ ἐν τῷ ἰσχῦσαι αὐτὸν συνετρίβη τὸ κέρας αὐτοῦ τὸ μέγα καὶ ἀνέβη κέρατα τέσσαρα ὑποκάτω αὐτοῦ εἰς τοὺς τέσσαρας ἀνέμους τοῦ οὐρανοῦ
And the male goat of the goats was magnified exceedingly, and when he became strong, his great horn was broken, and four horns came up under him toward the four winds of heaven.
ἐκ τοῦ ἑνὸς αὐτῶν ἐξῆλθεν κέρας ἓν ἰσχυρὸν καὶ ἐμεγαλύνθη περισσῶς πρὸς τὸν νότον καὶ πρὸς ἀνατολὴν καὶ πρὸς τὴν δύναμιν
And out of one of them came forth one strong horn, and it grew exceedingly toward the south and toward the east and toward the power
ἕως τῆς δυνάμεως τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἀπὸ τῆς δυνάμεως τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἄστρων καὶ συνεπάτησεν αὐτά
It was magnified even to the power of heaven, and it fell to the ground from the power of heaven and from the stars, and it trampled them.
ἕως οὗ ὁ ἀρχιστράτηγος ῥύσηται τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν καὶ δι᾿ αὐτὸν θυσία ἐρράχθη καὶ ἐγενήθη καὶ κατευοδώθη αὐτῷ καὶ τὸ ἅγιον ἐρημωθήσεται
And until the chief commander rescues the captivity, and through him sacrifice was thrown down and came to be, and it prospered for him, and the holy place shall be made desolate
And sin was given upon the sacrifice, and righteousness was thrown down to the ground, and he acted and prospered.
ἤκουσα ἑνὸς ἁγίου λαλοῦντος καὶ εἶπεν εἷς ἅγιος τῷ φελμουνι τῷ λαλοῦντι ἕως πότε ἡ ὅρασις στήσεται ἡ θυσία ἡ ἀρθεῖσα καὶ ἡ ἁμαρτία ἐρημώσεως ἡ δοθεῖσα καὶ τὸ ἅγιον καὶ ἡ δύναμις συμπατηθήσεται
And I heard one holy one speaking, and one holy one said to the one speaking, How long will the vision stand, the sacrifice that was taken away, and the sin of desolation that was given, and the holy place and the power be trampled?
And he said to him, Until evening and morning, two thousand and three hundred days, and the holy place shall be cleansed.
ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἰδεῖν με ἐγὼ Δανιηλ τὴν ὅρασιν καὶ ἐζήτουν σύνεσιν καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔστη ἐνώπιον ἐμοῦ ὡς ὅρασις ἀνδρός
And it came to pass, when I, Daniel, saw the vision and was seeking understanding, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man
And I heard a man’s voice between the Ulai, and he called and said, Gabriel, make that one understand the vision.
ἦλθεν καὶ ἔστη ἐχόμενος τῆς στάσεώς μου καὶ ἐν τῷ ἐλθεῖν αὐτὸν ἐθαμβήθην καὶ πίπτω ἐπὶ πρόσωπόν μου καὶ εἶπεν πρός με σύνες υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου ἔτι γὰρ εἰς καιροῦ πέρας ἡ ὅρασις
And he came and stood near my standing place, and at his coming I was amazed and I fell upon my face, and he said to me, Understand, son of man, for still the vision is for the end of the time.
ἐν τῷ λαλεῖν αὐτὸν μετ᾿ ἐμοῦ πίπτω ἐπὶ πρόσωπόν μου ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ ἥψατό μου καὶ ἔστησέν με ἐπὶ πόδας
And while he was speaking with me, I fell upon my face to the ground, and he touched me and set me on my feet.
And he said, Behold, I make known to you the things that shall be at the end of the wrath, for yet for the time of the end is the vision
The ram that you saw, the one having the horns, is the king of the Medes and Persians.
ὁ τράγος τῶν αἰγῶν βασιλεὺς Ἑλλήνων καὶ τὸ κέρας τὸ μέγα ὃ ἦν ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτοῦ αὐτός ἐστιν ὁ βασιλεὺς ὁ πρῶτος
And the he-goat of the goats is the king of the Greeks, and the great horn which was between his eyes, this is the first king.
τοῦ συντριβέντος οὗ ἔστησαν τέσσαρα ὑποκάτω κέρατα τέσσαρες βασιλεῖς ἐκ τοῦ ἔθνους αὐτοῦ ἀναστήσονται καὶ οὐκ ἐν τῇ ἰσχύι αὐτοῦ
And as for the one that was broken, where four horns stood up in its place, four kings from his nation will arise, but not in his power.
ἐπ᾿ ἐσχάτων τῆς βασιλείας αὐτῶν πληρουμένων τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν αὐτῶν ἀναστήσεται βασιλεὺς ἀναιδὴς προσώπῳ καὶ συνίων προβλήματα
And at the last of their kingdom, when their sins are being filled up, there shall arise a king, shameless in face and understanding riddles.
κραταιὰ ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἐν τῇ ἰσχύι αὐτοῦ καὶ θαυμαστὰ διαφθερεῖ καὶ κατευθυνεῖ καὶ ποιήσει καὶ διαφθερεῖ ἰσχυροὺς καὶ λαὸν ἅγιον
And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy marvelously, and he shall direct and act, and he shall destroy mighty ones and a holy people
ὁ ζυγὸς τοῦ κλοιοῦ αὐτοῦ κατευθυνεῖ δόλος ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ μεγαλυνθήσεται καὶ δόλῳ διαφθερεῖ πολλοὺς καὶ ἐπὶ ἀπωλείας πολλῶν στήσεται καὶ ὡς ᾠὰ χειρὶ συντρίψει
And the yoke of his collar shall direct deceit in his hand, and in his heart he shall be magnified, and by deceit he shall destroy many, and he shall stand up for the destruction of many, and as eggs he shall shatter by hand.
ἡ ὅρασις τῆς ἑσπέρας καὶ τῆς πρωίας τῆς ῥηθείσης ἀληθής ἐστιν καὶ σὺ σφράγισον τὴν ὅρασιν ὅτι εἰς ἡμέρας πολλάς
And the vision of the evening and of the morning, the one spoken, is true; and you, seal the vision, for it is for many days.
ἐγὼ Δανιηλ ἐκοιμήθην καὶ ἐμαλακίσθην ἡμέρας καὶ ἀνέστην καὶ ἐποίουν τὰ ἔργα τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐθαύμαζον τὴν ὅρασιν καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὁ συνίων
And I, Daniel, slept and was sick for days, and I arose and did the works of the king, and I was marveling at the vision, and there was no one understanding it
