In the third year of Cyrus king of the Persians, a word was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar, and the word was true, and great power and understanding were given to him in the vision.
I ate no desirable bread, and meat and wine did not enter into my mouth, and I did not anoint myself with ointment, until the completion of three weeks of days.
and his body was like Tharsis, and his face like the appearance of lightning, and his eyes like lamps of fire, and his arms and his legs like the appearance of shining bronze, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude
And I was left alone, and I saw this great vision, and no strength was left in me, and my glory was turned into corruption, and I did not retain strength
And he said to me, Daniel, man of desires, understand the words that I am speaking to you, and stand in your station, for now I have been sent to you. And while he was speaking this word to me, I stood up trembling.
And he said to me, Do not fear, Daniel, because from the first day on which you gave your heart to understand and to afflict yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come because of your words.
and the prince of the kingdom of the Persians was standing opposite me for twenty-one days, and behold, Michael, one of the first princes, came to help me, and I left him there with the prince of the kingdom of the Persians
And behold, like the likeness of a son of man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and spoke and said to the one standing before me, Lord, at the vision of you my inward parts were turned within me, and I had no strength.
And how will your servant be able, lord, to speak with this my lord? And I from now on strength will not stand in me, and breath has not been left in me.
And he said to me, Do not fear, man of desires; peace be to you. Be courageous and be strong. And as he was speaking with me, I grew strong and said, Let my lord speak, because you have strengthened me.
And he said, Do you know why I have come to you? And now I will return to fight with the prince of the Persians, and I was going forth, and the prince of the Greeks was coming.
But I will proclaim to you what is prescribed in a writing of truth, and there is no one holding with me against these things except Michael, your ruler.
