But when they were no longer able to hide it, his mother took for him a basket and smeared it with asphalt and pitch, and put the child into it and placed it in the marsh by the river.

And the daughter of Pharaoh went down to bathe at the river, and her attendants were walking along by the river, and seeing the ark in the marsh, she sent the attendant and took it up.

And it came to pass in those many days, that Moses, having become great, went out to his brothers, the sons of Israel; and when he had observed their toil, he sees an Egyptian man striking a certain Hebrew of his brothers, of the sons of Israel.

And he said, Who appointed you ruler and judge over us? Do you want to kill me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday? And Moses was afraid and said, If thus this matter has become evident,

And Pharaoh heard this matter and sought to kill Moses; but Moses withdrew from before Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian. And when he came into the land of Midian, he sat down by the well.

Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters, shepherding the sheep of their father Jethor; and when they had come, they drew water until they filled the troughs to water the sheep of their father Jethor

And after those many days the king of Egypt died, and the sons of Israel groaned from the works and cried out, and their cry went up to God from the works.
